finished reading mass effect andromeda: annihilation over the weekend and. it was good, a perfectly 3/5, pleasant but not mind-blowing read that focused on the lore and politics of the non-citadel races - which was super refreshing! however...however. (spoilers) the decision to punish the ultimate antagonist - a quarian woman - by *checks notes* stripping her of her enviro-suit and forcing her to be gawped at and touched in order to disseminate the cure to the disease she created until she ultimately dies of exposure was insane.
by hey, at least we ended it with drell-batarian MILF yuri.
#possum.txt#her gender + the loaded ethnic/cultural coding of the quarians overshadowed any sense of triumph or justice the scene wanted to convey#I don't remember the last time I felt so uncomfortable reading something (fictional)#I do think I would overall recommend it to mass effect fans though#there are so many fun character concepts (anax therion and yorrick and senna'nir and borbala fenrank my beloveds!)#and we get lots of interesting worldbuilding snippets#just...uhhh...be prepared for that ending

What are your favourite youtubes to eat food to?
i can't say i really have a favourite honestly, it's kind of luck based. i'll usually try to watch streams while i eat food, but if ive run out of the ones i'm interested in watching, it's likely im eating to a much shorter video.
#ask#anon#i tend to watch rtvs vods or rtvs adjacent vod channels. been watching videochess's star fox adventure streams recently for example#before that i was watching their stream of eggs of steel. since that game kind of stuck with me after scorpy streamed it once in the past#i gotta get back to watching facefullabugs' mother 3 stream since they got back into that recently#as for like. non-stream related content#i watch simpleflips stuff when he uploads stuff#urban rescue ranch i watch a lot of. though i try not to watch his stuff while eating food.#same kinda goes for haha ha's videos sometimes. if theyre building stuff for their cats then its a good watch#if they upload a video of them catching and cooking fish for their cats. i try to watch those later#since they tend to show themself preparing the fish in the video. which isnt great to watch while eating.#but otherwise i just like watching their cats#im not subscribed to any but theres a few tf2 channels that upload clip compilations from 2fort and doublecross and the likes#zeyo is the one ik by name. another has a cat icon. the other only has two videos uploaded on their channel so far.#i just kinda watch them when they appear in my reccomendeds#eager to see quintonreviews last part of his icarly+ videos. his stuffs always incredibly fun to watch#but ive also been rewatching waynes sonic adventurequest streams from the beginning so i have some audio while i work#but also im looking for a song he played on stream and i dont remember where it played amongst the 10 streams#uhhh ive been waiting to see billiams third Lost series episode. because of him i watched through the rest of Lost.#i remember my family watching that show when i was a kid. its pretty fun near the beginning but. near the end man. ough.#also if youre wondering why i replied with the channels in the tags. its cause i knew id be talking a lot#and i dont know if i can add a Keep Reading on a post with the version of the tumblr app from last year.#anyway i hope. all of that suffices as an answer for you anon#thank you for the ask!!!!

Marcille: "Uhhh . . . I'm so hungry . . ."
Laios: "We should have waited until we were at the end of this maze to kill and eat the minotaur. Senshi, what do we have left?"
Senshi: "We're good on water due to that aquifer leaking into the maze, but otherwise all we have left is my spices and this unopened bottle of benadryl."
Laios: "Hmm . . ."
Marcille: "Laois, look at me. Benadryl isn't food."
Laios: "I know that, but what if we were to kill and eat the Hat Man?"
Chilchuck: "WHAT?"
Senshi: "What's the Hat Man?"
Marcille: *sighs* "It's a shared hallucination, generally induced by certain kinds of drug intake. Some mages have tried to study if it's real but were unable to prove that it stayed tangible or present after they sobered up."
Senshi: "So that benadryl would lure the Hat Man to us, and give us a chance to fight it? That will be tough. Sounds like we will have to kill, cook and eat it all before the medicine wears off if it will lose tangibility otherwise."
Laois: "That's it! If we need only one or two of us to kill the Hat Man, then the rest can be dosed up only right before the meal is done cooking."
Senshi: "There's one problem with that. Dwarves are basically immune to any tallmen drug that isn't prescription strength. I'll need half the bottle just to have enough time to eat the meal. Chilchuck, you'll be able to use it the most efficiently because of how little you weigh. I can make sure that the fire is ready, but you'll have to fight the Hat Man alone and dose Marcille afterwards to help you with the cooking prep. Laios and I shouldn't risk taking more than needed just to eat."
Chilchuck: "ARE YOU CRAZY?! YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THE HAT MAN IS REAL! And I don't do the fighting in this group! There's NO WAY that-"
Narrator: And so with their plan formulated, Chilchuck took a heavy dose of benadryl and prepared to fight the Hat Man in single combat.

(Happy ?) Anniversary
───୨ৎ────────୨ৎ───────୨ৎ───
Pairing: Idol!Felix x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Angst, cursing, Felix says “fuck” like 7 times
Summary: Your busy boyfriend tends to forget important dates due to his schedule—but this time, it was the last straw for you.
A/N: Uhhh, very unrelated to the fic, but I want the fic requesters to know that I’m working on literally every fic you cuties requested. Please be patient—I hope you guys don’t have to wait too long. I’m doing my best hehe xx Ily all!
───୨ৎ────────୨ৎ───────୨ৎ───
She had prepared the flowers hours ago. White roses, trimmed with trembling hands, arranged carefully in the vase he once said reminded him of his mother’s home. Everything had to look perfect. She fluffed the pillows on the couch twice. Then again. The candles on the table flickered gently, casting soft golden shadows across the walls — warm and delicate, like the evening she had imagined so many times.
She adjusted the straps of her silk dress once more and she’d worn her hair the way he liked, like she hadn’t tried too hard, though she had. God, she had.
From the kitchen came the scent of the food she had made. The stew simmered low, the rice was fluffy and warm, and the side dish was plated like she had watched in that cooking video over and over again. It was all ready. She just needed him.
She picked up her phone again, screen lighting up with her own reflection, expectant and bright.
Y/N: The food is almost done. I can’t wait to see you tonight.
She smiled to herself. There was a nervous flutter in her chest. Two years. They had made it through so much.
She sat down on the edge of the sofa, her hands folded neatly on her lap. Her eyes flicked to the door every few minutes. Then to the clock. Then to her phone again.
Still no read receipt.
She bit the inside of her cheek and typed again.
Y/N: Are you on your way?
A beat.
Then another.
She waited. The stew began to cool. The candles burned lower.
She waited.
Seconds melted into minutes, minutes into nearly an hour. She checked the app again. Still no reply. Still no sign of him reading anything. She opened his location once — just for a second — then quickly closed it. She hated doing that. She hated that she had to.
She stood and began to pace, heels softly clicking against the wooden floor. Maybe he was caught up in rehearsal. Maybe there was an emergency. Maybe the manager needed him. Maybe—
But she knew. Deep down, she always knew. He wasn’t coming.
She sat back down, slower this time. The candles had nearly burnt to the bottom. The flowers had begun to wilt at the edges — or maybe it was just her vision blurring. She wasn’t sure anymore.
The dress suddenly felt tight. Like a costume for a part she hadn’t been chosen for. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard again, but this time she couldn’t think of anything to write that didn’t sound like begging.
So she stayed still. Alone in the quiet room she had tried so hard to fill with love. The room smelled like food nobody would eat. Music still played low in the background, a playlist he had once made for her.
Two years.
And still, she had never felt more invisible.
Her thumb hovered over the call button, hesitation curling in her stomach like smoke. But she tapped it anyway.
Changbin picked up on the second ring.
“Hey, Bunny,” he greeted cheerfully, completely unaware of the ache she was holding in her chest.
She forced a smile he couldn’t see. “Hi Binnie…” Her voice was soft, hesitant. “Is, um… is Felix with you?”
There was a brief pause on the other end as he pulled the phone away and called out to the others in the background. Muffled voices responded, then a rustle as he returned to the line.
“No, he’s not. I thought he was with you — didn’t we all clear out of the dorm just so you guys could celebrate tonight?”
Her cheeks flushed with shame, though there was no one in the room to see it. She glanced at the untouched food, the dying candles, the table she’d poured her heart into.
“Yeah… I thought so too,” she said quickly, trying to cover her disappointment. “Maybe he got caught in traffic or something.”
They said their goodbyes, and she hung up. The silence settled again like a heavy coat on her shoulders.
Just as she sat back down, trying to swallow the sting in her throat, the front door creaked open.
She heard a familiar sniff — the kind he always did when he came in from the cold. Then the soft sound of his boots on the wooden floor. He stepped into the apartment, cheeks flushed pink from the winter air, a black beanie pulled low over his blonde hair. His glasses slid a little down his nose as he looked up.
“Oh, hey,” he said casually, giving her a faint smile. “Smells good in here.”
Then he saw her eyes.
Swollen. Red. Quiet in a way that wasn’t like her.
His smile faltered instantly.
“Wait… are you okay, babe?” he asked, concern blooming on his face as he stepped inside and shut the door behind him. His eyes darted around. “Where are the guys?”
Of course. He still didn’t realize.
She stood slowly, her hands clenched at her sides. Her voice came out so small it barely carried across the room.
“Do you know what day it is today?”
He blinked, confused. “Yeah, I had that fitting today. For Nicolas—”
She let out a short breath, almost a scoff. “No, Felix.” Her voice cracked a little. “I mean our day.”
It hit him then.
His gaze snapped to the table — the candles now half-burned, the cold food still untouched, the carefully arranged white roses she had picked just for tonight. His face paled.
“Oh fuck,” he whispered, breath catching. He dropped his bag to the floor like it weighed a thousand pounds. “Baby, I’m so sorry. I… I completely—”
She stepped back when he moved toward her.
“Don’t, Felix.”
He stopped mid-step, heart in his throat. “Please, baby. I swear I didn’t mean to forget. Things got so hectic and—”
She shook her head, eyes shining again with unshed tears. And this time, she didn’t hide them.
She stood there, arms loosely wrapped around herself as if trying to hold something inside from spilling out. Her voice was low, almost hollow, when she said it.
“Yeah. Obviously… This isn’t the first time.”
Felix froze in front of her. His hand hovered mid-air, like he had meant to reach out and touch her, but her words stopped him cold. His face crumpled for a second — just a flicker — before he tried to pull himself together.
“I didn’t mean to—”
“No, I know.” She gave a small laugh, sharp and tired. “You never mean to. That’s the thing, Lix. It’s never cruel. It’s never deliberate. But it still hurts the same.”
The air between them grew heavy, a silence so loud it pressed on both their chests.
He swallowed hard.
“I had the fitting, and then Chan called and we had to—”
“I’m not asking for excuses,” she cut him off, voice trembling. “I’m not even asking for much, Felix. Just to matter a little more than whatever the hell always comes first.”
He flinched at that.
“That’s not fair,” he muttered.
“Isn’t it?”
He looked at her then — really looked. And for a terrifying second, she saw it in his face: the anger, the frustration. Not at her, not really, but at the impossible reality of his life. The life she had once told him she understood. Did she really ?
“You knew what this was,” he finally said, voice low and raw. “You knew what it meant to be with me. The schedule. The travel. The pressure. I don’t get to forget fittings or rehearsals or appearances. If I let people down, I don’t just apologize and move on — I lose everything.”
She didn’t say anything. Just stared at him with wide, wet eyes, like he’d just broken something that had already been cracking for far too long.
“Yeah,” she whispered, “but what about me, Felix?”
He went still.
“What do I lose?” she asked. “I sit here waiting, I make the dinner, I light the candles, I put on a fucking dress I haven’t worn in a year, and you… you don’t even remember. You walk in like it’s Tuesday.”
He took a shaky breath. “Baby, please…”
She stepped back before he could reach for her. “Do you know how humiliating it is? Calling Changbin just to ask where you are? Hoping maybe you were in traffic — begging the universe for a traffic jam to cover for the fact that you just forgot me?”
Felix’s eyes were glassy now. He opened his mouth, then closed it again.
“You’re everything to me,” he said finally, quietly. “You know that, right?”
She looked at him — her voice so soft it nearly shattered him.
“Then why do I feel like nothing?”
“Don’t say shit like that,” Felix snapped, voice tight, eyes burning. “You know that’s not fair. That’s bullshit.”
Her eyes flicked up to meet his, glossed with unshed tears. But she didn’t flinch.
“Well your excuses are bullshit too,” she shot back, breath trembling. “You always have a reason, don’t you? Always something more important.”
He ran a hand through his hair, exasperated. “What the fuck is your problem?” he growled. “It’s not an excuse—I’m sorry for being late, and I’m fucking sorry for forgetting our fucking anniversary, alright?”
She took a small step back. Not out of fear—but because the volume in his voice hurt more than she’d expected.
“We’ve talked about this!” he shouted, pacing now, his emotions spiraling faster than he could stop them. “So many goddamn times. You know how busy I am. We’re planning a whole comeback right now. I’ve barely slept in days, but I still came home. And now I’m the bad guy for being human? For slipping up once?”
She didn’t say anything. Her hands were starting to shake, but she curled them into fists to keep it hidden.
He scoffed bitterly, and when he looked at her again, something cruel slipped past the desperation.
“You are so fucking clingy, you know that?” he spat. “Always fucking needing something. Always fucking complaining when I can’t give you every second of my life. You should be grateful I even made it home tonight.”
The silence that followed was deafening.
Her chest rose and fell unevenly, the sting of his words blooming into something sharp and cold in her lungs. He’d never yelled at her before. Not like this. Not with that look on his face, like she was just another burden.
She blinked fast, trying to keep her tears from falling, voice cracking as she whispered,
“…Well. I’m sorry, then.”
The front door creaked open.
The boys stepped inside, loud with laughter at first, but it died instantly when they saw her — standing still in the center of the room like she’d been hit by a truck. Her eyes were wet. Her shoulders drawn in tight, like she was trying to make herself small.
Felix grabbed his bag off the floor in one sharp movement.
Chan reached out instinctively. “Felix—”
But he shoved past him, jaw clenched, and stormed out without another word, the door slamming behind him.
Silence again.
Hyunjin stepped forward carefully. “What… happened?”
Chan looked at her with quiet alarm. “Are you okay?”
She didn’t answer.
Didn’t even look up.
Just wiped her cheek roughly with the back of her hand, and with a voice small and tired beyond her years, she said,
“Suit yourselves. The food’s cold. You can heat it up.”
Then she turned and went upstairs, footsteps slow, dragging.
And when her door closed, she finally let herself break.
────୨ৎ────
Lee Know was halfway through a bowl of cereal, hoodie hood pulled halfway over his face, when the front door creaked open.
Felix stepped in, eyes tired, the beanie from last night still on his head.
“Morning,” his deep voice mumbled, scratchy from lack of sleep—or maybe from all the shouting.
Lee Know looked up from the kitchen counter.
“Where were you all night?”
Felix shrugged, trying to keep it casual. “Slept over at Wooyoung’s.”
A pause.
Lee Know set his spoon down slowly, expression unreadable.
“Well… your girlfriend’s gone.”
That made Felix freeze.
“What do you mean ‘gone’?”
Footsteps padded on the stairs behind him as Changbin came down, stretching.
“Good morning to you too,” he muttered sarcastically.
Chan came down next, already dressed and scrolling through his phone. He didn’t look up when he spoke.
“Where’s Y/N?” Felix asked, voice tight.
“Could ask you that,” Chan said flatly, opening the fridge and pulling out the orange juice.
There was no pity in their eyes. No sympathy for the wide-eyed confusion dawning on his face.
Felix dug into his pocket for his phone, unlocking it with fumbling fingers. He typed out a quick message.
Felix: Where did you go?
Felix: Baby please say something
Felix: I’m sorry.
Delivered. But no response.
His chest squeezed.
Last night had been a blur of anger and guilt, and he’d tried to bury both by disappearing into the safety of someone else’s couch and letting silence do the talking. But now that she was actually gone—really gone—it hit him like a truck.
He leaned on the kitchen counter, staring at his phone, jaw clenched.
“She left before sunrise,” Lee Know added, softer this time. “Didn’t even take breakfast.”
“Did you seriously not check on her before walking out?” Changbin’s voice held a quiet frustration now. “Not even a note? A text? After yelling at her like that?”
Felix didn’t answer.
Chan looked up finally, folding his arms. “You can’t just throw words like that at her and expect everything to be fine the next morning, Felix. You hurt her. Really hurt her.”
“She didn’t even cry when she said goodbye,” Lee Know added. “That’s how you know it was bad.”
Felix gripped the edge of the counter so hard his knuckles turned white.
“I know I fucked up,” he muttered.
“Then fix it,” Chan snapped, frustration bubbling over. “Unless you’re okay with losing her. Is that what you want?”
“Of course not,” Felix said, almost yelling. Then quieter, like he was trying to convince himself, “Of course not.”
He opened her chat again. Still no reply.
Then he tried calling her.
Straight to voicemail.
He stared at the screen, jaw clenching tighter, guilt curling in his stomach like poison. He couldn’t even blame her. The words he’d thrown at her—he could still hear them in his own voice. Clingy. Grateful I came home. As if she hadn’t waited hours, set a table, built a moment for them to celebrate them—only to be made to feel like a burden.
And now she was gone.
Really gone.
────୨ৎ────
Felix paced the living room like a storm trapped in a bottle.
“Guys, please just tell me where she is,” he begged for the fifth time, turning to Han, who sat cross-legged on the floor tuning a guitar but hadn’t strummed a single string.
“Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you,” Han said without looking up. “She needs space, and you need to understand why.”
Felix ran a hand through his messy hair, breath shaky. His voice dropped into a quieter plea.
“I just want to say sorry. Really this time.”
Across the room, Lee Know was leaning against the kitchen island, arms crossed, silent and brooding. His cereal was forgotten and soggy in the bowl beside him. He didn’t speak, just stared at the floor. He hadn’t touched his phone in a while either, and his usual apathy looked more like discomfort now.
Then, slowly, he pulled out his phone and unlocked it with a sigh.
Felix watched with wide eyes, frozen in place.
Lee Know didn’t meet his gaze. He just lifted the phone to his ear and waited.
It rang once. Twice.
And then—click.
“Hi, princess,” Lee Know said softly, the corners of his mouth twitching in a rare, gentle smile. “Where are you?”
Felix swallowed hard, heart hammering.
A pause.
“Mm… I see. With Ryujin?” He glanced up, eyes flickering to Felix.
Felix exhaled, slumping down onto the couch, his head falling into his hands, relief crashing through his chest like a wave. His voice cracked slightly:
“Thank God…”
Lee Know pressed the phone closer, lowering his voice. “You know he was worried about you, right? Wouldn’t sit down. Keeps asking for you like a lost puppy.”
There was a silence as she responded on the other end. Lee Know listened with a slight nod. Then, he murmured, “Yeah… he knows. He’s been beating himself up since sunrise.”
Felix lifted his head, searching Lee Know’s face for any hint of hope.
Another pause.
And then—click.
The call ended.
Lee Know let the phone fall to his side, then turned to Felix.
“She said she was gonna come by tonight. Just to pick up some clothes.”
Felix shot up straight. “She’s coming back?”
Lee Know gave him a warning look. “She thinks you’re not gonna be here.”
Felix stood up too quickly, pacing again. “This is my only chance, right?”
“It’s not a performance, Felix,” Lee Know said coolly. “Don’t do it because you’re panicking. Do it because you actually get it now.”
Chan walked in just then, arms crossed and gaze sharp.
“Did I hear that right?” he said. “She’s coming over?”
Felix nodded, eyes hopeful. “Tonight.”
Chan raised his brows and scoffed. “After what happened, I’m honestly surprised she even wants to walk into the same apartment again.”
“Hyung—”
“No. Shut up for a second.”
Chan’s tone dropped. Firm. Controlled. Not yelling—but somehow worse than that.
“Do you even understand why she left?” he said. “Do you know what it does to someone to make a space just for you—light candles, cook, set the table—just to be treated like she’s overreacting? Like she’s clingy for wanting one fucking evening with the person she loves?”
Felix lowered his head.
“You didn’t just forget the anniversary, Felix. You made her feel like she was a burden for caring. And that’s the shit that sticks. That’s what people remember when they think about whether they feel safe with someone or not.”
The room fell quiet.
Even Lee Know didn’t chime in.
Chan stared at him a beat longer before sighing and turning away.
“If she shows up tonight, don’t just say sorry. Show her you actually mean it.”
Felix stood there, chest rising and falling, the weight of Chan’s words heavy in his bones.
He looked at the couch where she used to curl up beside him, the kitchen where she’d probably stood hours decorating a table for a night he never showed up for.
His heart thudded like a warning.
Tonight would either make or break everything.
────୨ৎ────
She hadn’t even taken off her shoes.
The hallway felt too quiet when she stepped inside, her fingers still trembling around the key she’d almost dropped twice. It was dark, except for a faint amber light flickering from the living room. She’d told herself she’d just grab her things, maybe leave a note. Maybe cry in the car after. She didn’t expect him to be here.
But when she turned the corner, she froze.
There he was.
On the couch.
Waiting.
His hair was a mess, clothes wrinkled like he hadn’t changed in a day, and his eyes—God, his eyes looked ruined.
“Hi,” he whispered.
She stayed by the doorway, fingers tightening around the handle of the overnight bag she planned to fill. The room smelled like her favorite vanilla candle—he’d lit all of them. The table was set again, this time clumsy but clearly him. Two plates. A reheated attempt at the same meal she had made. A half-wilted flower placed carefully beside the napkin.
It was almost laughable.
But her chest ached too much to laugh.
“Minho said you weren’t home,” she said, quietly.
He stood up. Slowly. Like he was afraid she’d bolt if he moved too fast.
“I wasn’t supposed to be,” he said, voice hoarse. “But I… I couldn’t let you come back to silence.”
She looked away.
“Y/N,” he stepped closer, but didn’t reach out. “I’m so fucking sorry.”
Her eyes flickered to him, glossy already. She didn’t want to cry again. She really didn’t.
“You yelled at me,” she said. Her voice shook, the words barely above a whisper. “You’ve never done that before.”
He inhaled sharply like her words had sliced him.
“I know.” His voice broke. “I know, and I’ll never forgive myself for it.”
She looked at him then—really looked. His eyes were red, like he hadn’t slept. His hands trembled at his sides, and his lips were parted like he was still trying to find the right words to make everything right.
But there weren’t any.
So she said the thing that had haunted her the most.
“You made me feel small. Like I was annoying for loving you too much.”
He pressed his hands against his face, dragging them down in frustration before stepping forward again.
“No—no, baby, please. I never meant that. I never meant any of it.” His voice cracked. “You love me in the most beautiful way. You make spaces warm. You make days matter. I was stressed, and tired, and stupid—but I should’ve never, ever taken it out on you.”
Silence.
Her throat burned.
“I don’t want to be scared of you, Lix,” she said, and this time her voice broke. “I was scared when you yelled. I—I didn’t know what to do. You’ve never made me feel like that before and it…” She couldn’t finish.
He rushed to her then, falling to his knees in front of her.
“I swear to you,” he whispered, clutching the hem of her coat. “That’ll never happen again. I swear on everything—I’ll spend every day making sure you never feel that way. Please… please don’t give up on me.”
His eyes were shimmering, his fingers trembling against the fabric. She could feel the heat of his skin even through the coat.
“I miss you,” he said, choking the words out. “I miss you like my lungs miss air.”
She stood there for a long moment, heart in her throat, the space between them thick with unsaid hurt and love and regret.
Then she knelt too.
And wrapped her arms around him.
He broke.
Right there in her arms, the boy who had always held her like she was breakable shattered like glass in her embrace. He clung to her, face buried in her shoulder, breath ragged with sobs he no longer tried to hide.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry—” he kept whispering.
She stroked his hair gently, tears finally falling.
“I know,” she whispered back. “Just… don’t ever let me feel alone like that again.”
His arms tightened around her.
“Never,” he swore. “Not even for a second.”
And in that fragile moment, on the floor of their shared apartment, they started to put the pieces back together.
He held her like the world would collapse if he let go. And maybe, for him, it would have.
Still kneeling on the floor with her curled into his chest, Felix pressed his lips to her temple, voice thick but steady now. “I’ll do better. I swear.”
She didn’t answer, but he could feel the way her hand tightened at the back of his hoodie.
“I never meant to make you feel like an afterthought. And missing our anniversary—God, that’s on me. All of it is. You planned everything so beautifully, and I just… I wasn’t there. And I should’ve been.”
Her cheek pressed into his collarbone. He kissed the top of her head.
“From now on,” he whispered, “you’re part of everything. Not just the parts I have time for. I’ll make time. You shouldn’t have to beg for it.”
His words sank into her slowly, like balm on a bruise. And for once, she could tell he wasn’t just saying it—he meant it. He meant every word.
────୨ৎ────
It started small.
The next morning, he took her hand and asked if she’d come with him to the studio. Not just to drop him off. Not just for a coffee run. But to stay. With him.
She curled up on the couch. Watched the way he got lost in the music. Smiled every time he threw her a wink or made a goofy face mid-recording just to make her laugh.
The boys didn’t question it. Not once.
In fact, they loved it.
“You here for emotional support or to make sure he doesn’t forget your birthday too?” Changbin teased, and she threw a pillow at him while Felix grinned like an idiot behind his laptop.
She helped Hyunjin organize props for their SKZ Talker behind-the-scenes vlog. Chan gave her the camera once and let her film a whole segment herself. Felix kept sneaking in frames to kiss her cheek, until Lee Know pushed him out of the way with a deadpan, “Let her work, she’s better than you at this.”
Felix took her to late-night practice, where she watched them run the same choreo until their shirts clung to their backs. She clapped louder than anyone.
“I don’t care how tired I am,” he whispered during water breaks, forehead resting against hers. “As long as you’re here.”
She sat beside him at brand meetings, picked out outfits with the stylists, got a backstage pass to his world—and not once did he make her feel like she was in the way.
He asked her opinion.
He held her hand.
He told every staff member who looked surprised to see her, “She’s staying. That’s my girl.”
And every night when they got home, he’d wrap his arms around her and murmur:
“Thank you for not giving up on me.”

Dumpster Baby Part 2
<-First
Jazz wasn't worried at all that Danny was missing. But she's annoyed that he hasn't contacted her for nearly 2 months of disappearing.
Danny had gone scouting Gotham and hadn't come back. Something had distracted him enough. Well, with or without him, she was going there anyway. Within two months of waiting for Danny, she had finished packing and was now ready to leave.
Her parents also weren't worried about Danny, knowing about his status as a half. They were just disappointed he didn't bother contacting them for whatever reasons he had. They were planning to join Jazz to settle her in Gotham and investigate where Danny had gone and what he had been doing in Gotham.
Tucker and Sam, who also got no messages, were gearing up to prepare to go to Gotham. Unlike Danny, they were completely normal human beings, so they did have to arm themselves when they went there.
When they got to Gotham, they immediately tracked for Danny, only to end up in front of a large warehouse.
"Did he get carried away building a lair for himself?" Tucker joked.
"And not texting us for 2 months about it? There's no way he can keep a secret about it." Sam hissed at him.
So they opened the door to the warehouse, to find an eyeball staring straight at them.
Jazz, Sam and Tucker screamed while Maddie and Jack aimed their gun rays at it, only for them to realise that it was Danny.
"Dann-o! We came to visit!" Jack put away his gun to greet his son.
"You should have contacted us! It's been 2 months already!" Maddie scolded him.
The eyeball stared at them, looking at them as apologetically as he can as an eyeball before gesturing to follow him inside.
As they went inside, they noticed that there were several Ghosts inside, looking like they had a task to do. They wondered what until they went into a room the eyeball directed them to go to.
Inside was a large creature lounging on the floor, resting as children were playing all over his form. There were babies in an arm, many arms. Oh, and eyeballs were floating everywhere.
"Uhhh, Danny?" Jazz started. "Where did you find these kids?" She calmly stated, ignoring her parents who got excited that they became grandparents in an instant. They all knew Danny, and they all knew that he had taken all these children in as his.
Jazz felt a tug and looked down to see a thin child, a child who should have been pudgy with how young he looked. He looked up with huge eyes, a fist in his mouth as he clutched a teddy bear possessively. He took out the fist from his mouth to reach up to Jazz, opening and closing his fist at her.
"Uppies?"
Jazz picked him up and rested him on her hips, melting when the baby rested his head on her shoulder, his fluffy hair tickling her cheeks.
Okay, she gets why Danny took them in.
"We could have helped, you know." Jazz weakly said, bouncing the baby softly. Danny snorted, making Jazz sigh. She would save the lecture once the children weren’t in the same room.
"Honey! We have grandchildren!" Jack cooed, shrinking from his big size and went on his knees to not scare any children. The children looked like they only recently just had good meals, warmth, and shelter. It wouldn’t do good for him to aggravate them further.
Sam and Tucker decided to sit down on an available spot. Some children, once they noticed that Danny didn’t have any reaction to them, deeming them safe, dragged the both of them to play with them.
Maddie went over to check out Danny to see if his newly changed form had any bad effect on him and just to generally check on him. She melted when Danny deposited one of the babies he was carrying, the arms disappearing when settled in her arms.
She patted her son as she watched her the children and her husband having the time of their lives playing with each other. With Jack's big form, there were children using him as a jungle gym. Jazz was cuddling with the boy. Tucker and Sam were playing heroes with the children as the bad guys, letting the children beat them up when the villains failed their plans.
"I'm proud of you, Danny. You've taken in the children that needed help and created a family of your own." Maddie smiled at him, eyes watering at the utterly domestic side
Danny's eyes all teared up, she noticed, and his head went to nuzzle her.
Well, it's time for everyone to move to Gotham, she supposes.

🤍💔🤍💔🤍
You weren't sure how long you had been walking, hardly registering where you were going when he appeared in front of you.
Azriel.
You shook your head at him. You wouldn't consent to going anywhere with him.
Feyre would be the next to accuse you of being a whore if you did...
"Come with me, Y/N. You're going to freeze to death out here," Azriel said quietly, extending a hand to you.
"No. I don't belong there."
He let out a long sigh. "You belong with your sisters. Just come with me. Feyre is worried."
"Feyre is..." You scoffed. "Feyre is worried? Was she worried when I didn't show up for dinner that everyone was at? Or only when I was no longer in that city? Because from where I'm standing, no one in that city has cared for me in months. So no, I don't belong with my sisters. I belong with humans. Now let. Me. Leave," you hissed at him, legs already moving to walk past him and continue your journey.
"You'll die tonight, if you don't come back," Azriel informed you, as though you hadn't already realized that.
"And the world would be just the same without me in it."
Another long, heavy sigh from behind you- then arms were wrapped around your middle, holding you tight as you fought against him with all of your pathetic, human strength. You managed to rip a nail through his wing, causing him to hiss in pain and drop you. Before you could make your way to your feet, he had you in his arms again, this time carrying you through the swirling void of night that accompanied him at all times.
A moment later you were back in that house, in the middle of the living room where the rest of the inner circle was sitting, all eyes on you.
Azriel's arms dropped from your waist in an instant, the warmth of his body leaving your side as he took his place, leaning against the wall next to the fireplace.
"What were you thinking?" Feyre asked angrily as she stood from her spot on a couch next to Rhys. "Do you have any idea of what could have happened to you tonight?"
"Do I-" you shook your head. "Of course I know what could have happened to me, I'm just a human. Any single person in Prythian could kill me if they wanted to."
"So why did you leave?" Rhys asked quietly, in a tone that you knew meant danger.
You turned your eyes back to Feyre, doing your best to ignore her mate who still terrified you. "Do you remember what day it is, High Lady?"
Feyre looked confused for a moment, before understanding filled her eyes. "Oh, Y/N... I... I forgot. We were celebrating finally getting the Illyrians to let females train whenever they want," she explained, but you weren't buying it.
"Oh, well that's fine. You forget the day that I spent over a week preparing for, the entire day cooking for, all to celebrate something that just happened. Did you once think to find me? To invite me to this celebration?" Feyre's silence was enough of an answer for you. "I don't belong here. You should have left me in the human lands, thinking you all died. I would have been happier that way. Nesta and Elain hate me, I cannot speak to Lucien or Cassian out of fear that their mates will kill me, the rest of you ignore me unless I've done something wrong. I do not belong here," you hissed, doing your best to throw all of your hurt and rage into your words.
"You do belong here, Y/N," Feyre said tearily. "You're our sister."
You stared down at her coldly. "Am I? From where I'm standing I am just a weakness for you that you keep close so you won't be hurt. I haven't felt like your sister since I arrived."
"That's not tr-" Feyre started, but you cut her off.
"Take me back."
"What?" Nesta asked sharply from behind you, and you could feel her anger rising, the hairs on your arms standing up.
"Take me back to the human lands. I would rather live alone in poverty than spend one more day living in this place."
"You will not," Nesta snarled, a hand clawing at your shoulder. "You would die within a week with the wall down."
"I managed just fine on my own for three months before Feyre came to get me."
"Nesta is right, Y/N," Rhys said, drawing your eyes back to him. "You will not leave Velaris. Anywhere else is too dangerous for you to be, with your connection to us."
Rage flooded your system like it never had before at the thought of being kept here until you die. "I will not be kept like some prisoner in this city. I refuse."
"You have no choice," Feyre said softly, the final nail in the coffin.
"Then kill me," you said, fully hoping that they would. "Kill me and put me out of my misery, if I am not able to leave this horrible place. I do not belong here, and I do not want to belong here anymore."
Tears were pouring down Feyre's face at your confession, the last sight you saw before you slipped into darkness.
🤍💔🤍💔🤍
When you woke, your body was warm, resting underneath blankets on a comfortable bed.
You could almost imagine that you were back in that hut, surrounded by your sisters as you huddled for warmth.
But it was wrong... your face was too warm, no longer chilled by the slight breeze that rattled through the house in winter, and there was no soft, quiet breathing from your sisters sleeping.
You opened your eyes, met with the familiar pale blue ceiling of your bedroom. You would guess it was the early morning, with how dark it was.
What happened...?
It was difficult, getting your brain to remember how you ended up in your bed... After all, you had hardly slept in it ever since Elain had snapped at you so many months ago, the idea of another door keeping you safe too comforting to not indulge in.
But once you remembered... ice cold terror flooded your body.
You had been in the middle of yelling at Feyre- at all of them. And suddenly now you were in your bed?
Rhysand had used his powers on you.
And you were helpless to stop it.
You turned onto your side and curled into yourself for a moment, hoping that making yourself smaller would be enough to loosen the fear gripping your heart. After a minute, you gave up, standing from your bed and pulling a thick blanket and soft pillow with you into the bathroom, making your safe little nest in the bathtub.
The blanket and pillow you had used last were still there, adding extra cushion and much needed warmth to the metal tub.
So you curled up, a pillow at your back and your knees pulled to your chest as you huddled under one blanket and pulled the edges of the bottom one up, cocooning yourself in soft cotton.
Sleep found you easily, your body and mind exhausted still from the disappointment and realizations of last night.
Your dreams were filled by half memories, half imaginings of being back in that little run down cottage, your sisters and father around you as you huddled in front of the fire, drinking hot water from chipped mugs.
"Y/N?" Feyre's voice asked, waking you from your sleep. You raised your head for a moment, considering answering her. But your recent interactions with her had you placing your head back on its pillow, tucking your knees further against your chest, ignoring the way your body had started to ache. She knocked on the bathroom door once, twice. "Just... come out when you're ready, Y/N. There's breakfast downstairs if you'd like." Feyre sighed, loud enough for even your ears to hear, but walked away, leaving you in blissful silence.
You let yourself drift off again, conjuring images of you curled up in front of the fire, your head in your father's lap just how he'd let you when you were a child.
The next time you woke, your bladder forced you awake, and by the time you had relieved yourself the muscles in your body were screaming for some kind of movement. You walked around your room for a few minutes and stretched your body, sighing as some of the tension left it.
All too soon, your stomach was growling at you, angry with you for having ignored it for... however long you had been asleep.
Sighing, you moved back to the bathroom and disassembled your makeshift bed, replacing the fabrics where they initially belonged so that you could bathe before going downstairs.
The last thing you wanted was for Nesta and Elain to make snide comments at you.
You tied your hair up in a bun- you didn't feel like going through the effort of washing it at the moment. After drawing the bath, tendrils of steam coming from the water, you stripped yourself of the pink dress you had worn for Bounty Day and slipped into the water. Your muscles eased quickly, the heat of the bath drawing out the stress they carried.
You nearly fell asleep again, and if not for the gnawing of your stomach you would have let yourself, as the tub had an enchantment to keep the water warm until emptied. But you forced yourself to wash, using a soft cloth and a lovely lavender and orange soap bar that you had picked out a few months ago while shopping for Nesta's birthday.
Once you deemed yourself clean enough, you stood from the bath, nearly slipping as you stepped out. A disappointed sigh left your lips and you shook your head at your foolish, human clumsiness.
You dried off quickly and padded back into your bedroom. You slipped on a simple white cotton dress, and a pale pink dressing robe over the top. After putting on your slippers, you stood in front of the door, steeling yourself for whatever you would face outside of your room. A deep breath in, then out, and you opened the door, stepping into the hallway.
The walk to the kitchen was quick, and it was blissfully empty when you entered. You set about making a pot of tea for yourself, bringing water to a boil in a kettle on the stove. While it was heating up, you grabbed one of the trays used for when someone wanted breakfast in bed and placed a teapot and cup on it, as well as a bowl.
You looked around the kitchen, scrunching your face at the options available. Your eyes caught on the windows looking out to the garden, noting the stars in the sky.
Just how long had you slept for...?
Shaking your head, you turned back to the bowl of fruit sitting on the counter. Your hands reached for an apple almost big enough in size that you couldn't grasp it.
You grabbed a small cutting board from a cabinet and a knife out of the block, then washed the apple before setting it on the board. The kettle was just starting to whistle, and you removed it from the heat before it could wake anyone sleeping upstairs. After you measured out a small amount of tea leaves into the teapot's helpful strainer, you poured enough water in to make at least three cups of tea. You were making a soothing lavender and chamomile blend, one that never failed to send you to a dreamless sleep after having a few cups.
Leaving it to steep, you returned to the cutting board, carefully cutting the apple into small slices. Once it was cut, you placed the slices into the bowl on your tray, then washed the cutting board and knife, leaving them in the drying rack.
You removed the strainer from the teapot after deeming it to be strong enough, and emptied the leaves into the trash before washing it as well.
All that was left was to carry your bounty upstairs, without waking a soul.
Tray in your arms, you made your way back up the stairs and into your bedroom, letting out a small sigh of relief once you had closed the door behind you. The tray was placed on your desk, and you took your seat.
The first pour of tea was always your favorite, as it was always at the perfect temperature. You brought the steaming cup of tea to your lips, closing your eyes as you took the first soothing sip, letting the warmth of it wash over you.
The apple was delicious, crisp and sweet and tasting of autumn. You made sure to savor the taste- you weren't sure when you would next venture out of your room, seeing as you were still terrified to see any who would be in the River House.
Even your sisters... Though Feyre was the main change, you supposed, seeing as she had let her mate use his powers on you, when she had promised that neither she or Rhys would ever do so.
Your second cup of tea was still warm and soothing as you finished off the apple, but when you got to the third and final cup, it was only lukewarm.
A problem that any of your sisters would surely be able to solve...
By the time you finished your tea, you were tired enough to fall back sleep, but first you forced yourself to return to the kitchen, feet stepping carefully on your journey to stay undiscovered. You washed your dishes quickly and returned the tray to its rightful place, then made your way back upstairs.
Your door was shut behind you, another successful mission in avoiding those you once considered family.
The bathtub had dried, and you brought your blankets and pillows back in with you, reassembling your makeshift bed once again. Your crawled between the blankets, content to stay between them forever as warmth cocooned you. Your mind drifted, once again conjuring scenes of you living with father once more, tending to your little herb garden and cooking to your hearts content.
Two weeks- or perhaps more- passed in the same manner, with Feyre knocking on your bathroom door every morning or so and waking you from your slumber. In the nights you would crawl from your blankets and return to the kitchen for a pot of tea and whatever fruit or vegetables were available and easy enough to eat without cooking.
Your stomach had protested loudly for the first week before settling back into the cold, quiet hunger that your body had adapted to for most of its life.
One morning, your solitude was broken by Morrigan pounding on your bedroom door, jolting you from your sleep and driving fear into your heart.
"Come to the door, Y/N, or I won't leave!" She yelled from behind the wood, persistent knocks following her words.
You sighed and turned your head back into your pillow, determined to ignore her.
"I brought you tea! Please just come to the door, Y/N? You can tell me to leave and take the tea, even," the fae offered, and your stomach rumbled in response.
Tea... wouldn't be bad, you thought to yourself.
But you hadn't bathed...
Morrigan's knocking only grew louder as you debated with yourself, fear and hunger warring in your mind.
"Y/N!"
You grumbled to yourself as you rose from your spot, shouting "I'll be right there!" when her knocking somehow continued to increase in volume. You opened the bathroom door and headed to your wardrobe, tugging a dressing gown over your nightgown.
Turning the door's handle was difficult, fear of the unknown still lingering in your gut, but the blonde on the other side of the door was in fact holding a tray of tea when you finally managed to open the door.
"Good morning!" Morrigan chirped, a bright smile on her face as she met your eyes. Her warm chocolate eyes seemed genuine, allowing some of the tension in your body to leave as you looked at the tray.
A pot of tea, two cups, and a plate of diced fruit, cheeses, and smoked meats.
She obviously wanted to join you... And she had been kind enough to bring you not only tea but food as well. That made up your mind.
"Would you like to come in?" You asked quietly, stepping aside to let her into your bedroom.
"I would love to, thank you Y/N." Morrigan breezed in and placed the tray on top of your bed before taking a seat on one side, feet pulled up so she was sitting with her legs folded in front of her.
You shut the door and followed her, taking a seat on the opposite side while she poured tea into a cup. She handed one to you first, warmth instantly flowing into your fingers, before pouring her own.
You took a small sip, closing your eyes at the bright taste of mint and ginger. "I... Thank you, Morrigan."
"Oh, call me Mor, Y/N. And it was really no trouble, I've..." She paused. "I've wanted to talk to you, check in on you after everything that happened. I know that we haven't talked much, since you came to Velaris, but I would like to change that. I know what it is like to feel so out of place that you can barely fathom living... I know how difficult it can be, when you don't have the support you need," Mor confessed. "I do wish I had noticed how uncomfortable you felt, before you had to tell us so bluntly."
Tears pricked your eyes as she talked. You wished it had been the same, as well.
"It isn't your fault, Mor..." you sighed. "You don't have the same... Not responsibility to me, but the past connection. And it is not as though you were the one to bring me here."
Mor gave you a sad smile, her eyes understanding. "I know, but you are a part of this family, and you are supposed to feel like you are as well."
You nodded your head in agreement, though you didn't quite agree. You felt... You felt as though your family had been lost to you, long before you came to Velaris.
The two of you sipped on your tea in a comfortable silence for a while, your eyes darting down to the small spread of food frequently, until your stomach made its discomfort known. Loudly.
Instead of Mor reprimanding you for it, or telling you to eat, she simply began eating herself- something you were grateful for. You followed her lead, slowly eating a few pieces of what she had brought up. Between the food and the several cups of tea, your stomach felt pleasantly warm and full, more than it had been in a long while.
"I have an idea, if you're up for it," Mor offered once the two of you had finished both the tea and food, her brown eyes looking at you hopefully.
"What did you have in mind?" You asked, mind already wandering to what she might ask you. Maybe a favor for Feyre, to get you to talk with her?
"I have a little skincare routine that I do every morning, and even though your skin is absolutely gorgeous as is, I thought that maybe you would like to join me? It's one of the few things that helps me feel a bit better when I'm having a rough day."
You blinked at her for a moment, the idea of her wanting to spend more time with you not having crossed your mind.
"I... I'm not sure that I would be any good at it..."
"Oh, nonsense! It's pretty simple, and I'll help you out with it. And if you hate it, we can stop at any point. Please?" She asked with so much sincerity that you nodded in agreement. The smile on her face when you did made you feel nice, and like she wasn't being forced into spending time with you.
"Yay!" Mor cheered. "I'll be back with everything in a few minutes. Do you want me to bring another pot of tea as well?" Mor asked, a sparkle in her eyes.
"If it's not any trouble for you, please," you replied, eyes tracking her as she stood from your bed and brought the tray back into her arms.
"Of course it isn't, Y/N. I'll be back in a little bit, okay?"
You nodded, and stood from the bed to open the door for her, shutting it softly behind her.
So far... This morning was nice. Mor is nice.
She returned in a few minutes, a fresh pot of tea and her supplies on the tray.
Over the next hour, she helped you cleanse and moisturize your skin, doing the same herself. You felt silly at first wearing the clay mask that she had spread over your face, but seeing Mor in it as well made you feel giggly, the two of you laying on your bed and talking about clothes. She made you promise to let her take you shopping once you felt ready to leave the house again, and you had her promise to teach you to do your makeup- though in softer colors than the bold reds and black that she preferred.
You drank most of the second pot of tea, happily consuming it, and along with the pleasant company of Mor, you were feeling warmer and more alive than you had since Bounty Day.
"So... Do you feel a little better?" Mor asked after you had both rinsed your faces and applied one last layer of moisturizer, this one smelling of strawberries.
You thought about it for a moment- you felt lighter than you had in months. "I do. Thank you again, Mor. This was really nice," you said, a small smile on your lips as you looked at her.
"Good, I'm glad. If you want to do it again, say... Tomorrow, just let me know," Mor said with a bright grin on her face.
"I... I'd like that very much, Mor," you said sheepishly, still in slight disbelief that she wanted to spend time with you.
"I'll stop by at the same time tomorrow, then." Mor gathered her things and left your room, leaving you in silence once more.
As much as you had enjoyed her company, you felt... tired, now. You glanced out the window, noting that snow was falling on an already thick layer coating the ground and buildings below.
You hadn't known it had snown at all recently.
With a shake of your head, you brushed that thought off and returned to the bathroom, your blankets-
Oh gods, you thought to yourself. Did Mor notice?
You were slightly ashamed that you felt unsafe enough to sleep in the perfectly comfortable bed you had been given, but... You couldn't bring yourself to care enough to move back into the bedroom to sleep. Instead, you burrowed yourself into your blankets once again, telling yourself that someday you would sleep in the bed again.
🤍🤍❣️🤍🤍
Your time with Mor the next morning became a daily occurrence for the next week, and a way for you to better tell the passing of time.
Feyre had stopped coming to your bathroom door every morning, replaced instead by the blonde that you were getting closer to considering a real friend.
One morning, you woke early enough to take a bath before Mor showed up at your door. You had just finished dressing when you heard arguing outside of your door.
"I will not ask her for you, Feyre. You can go in there and ask her yourself, but I am not going to use my friendship with her for your benefit. Once you work up the balls, come back. She might talk to you then," Mor said angrily to your sister.
That shocked you.
"I'm not trying to use-" Feyre paused. "Fine, I will come back later."
"Good. Now go away, I don't want you to scare her."
A few seconds later, Mor knocked on your door. You opened it, and found her carrying the usual- a pot of tea, plate of food, and plenty of her skincare products.
Besides her argument with Feyre, your morning together went as usual, and you had nearly forgotten about the incident until Mor was about to leave.
A knock on the door had both Mor's and your heads snapping to it.
Mor sighed. "I should be going, then, Y/N. Just... Hear her out, for a moment at least?"
Your scrunched your nose up but nodded. "Thank you, Mor. Will I see you tomorrow?"
Mor's head bobbed as she picked up her things. "Yes, but the next few days I'll be staying in the Hewn City, they tend to get a little more problematic the closer we come to Starfall," Mor explained.
Your heart sank a little bit, but you smiled at her anyways. "I hope it goes well. I know you don't enjoy being there much." You almost wished you could go with her, to be out of this city for a little while.
"Thank you, Y/N," Mor said with an appreciative smile. "Would you get the door?"
"Of course." You did so, opening it to see a nervous looking Feyre. Mor passed by her and headed down the hallway. "Would..." You hesitated. "Would you like to come in?"
Feyre smiled at you, one filled with tension. "I would, thank you." She followed you into your room, closing the door behind her and coming a few feet into the room, leaving at least your height's distance between you. "I wanted to speak with you about something- well, ask you something, more."
"Okay..."
"I- Would you be willing to come to dinner tomorrow night?"
You stared at her in confusion. "Why tomorrow?"
Feyre's brow furrowed at your question. "It's your birthday tomorrow."
Oh.
You had forgotten your own birthday. It didn't surprise you much, with how distant your mind had been recently. Only in the past week had you fully recognized the passage of time, thanks to Mor's visits each morning.
"Oh, uhm... I-" you paused. Dinner would mean... seeing Nesta and Elain and Rhys. "Uhm. Would... Who would be there...?"
"All of the Inner Circle, I think," Feyre replied, a frown on her face when she saw your own. "What's wrong?"
You were silent for a moment, trying to come up with something that wouldn't make you sound as weak as the truth. But nothing came to mind quickly enough, with Feyre still staring at you with her worried blue eyes.
"I'm... I'm afraid of Nesta and Elain... And Rhys," you admitted, looking at the floor.
Feyre sighed. "I'm sorry about what I had him do, Y/N. I really, truly am. You were just so panicked and talking-" Feyre paused to close her eyes, one tear making its way down her cheek. "Hearing you explain how you were feeling, I wanted you to have time to calm down some. I didn't... I didnt know how horribly you feel living here, Y/N."
It was your turn to sigh. "If... If you get Nesta and Elain to behave- or at least not say anything nasty to me- I will come to dinner."
"Really?" Feyre asked, her watery eyes looking into yours. "I was already able to convince Elain to bake a cake for you- your favorite, white chocolate raspberry. And Nuala and Cerridwen were more than happy to make your favorites."
Your heart lifted in your chest. "You really planned a dinner for me?" You asked hopefully, willing them to not be crushed.
"I did, Y/N. It's the least I could do, with everything I haven't been doing."
You nearly reached for her, to pull her into a hug. But-
You were still afraid, still upset at being kept in Velaris.
She would have to earn your trust back.
"Thank you, Feyre. I'll see you tomorrow night."
Feyre nodded at you, a small smile on her face. She turned to leave, but paused before she did, as though she wanted to say something else. Instead, she left your room, shutting the door softly behind her.
Dinner tomorrow...
You sighed. It will be fine. It has to be.
🤍🤍❣️🤍🤍
The next morning, you woke with an awful cramping in your stomach, your body feeling slightly like you had the flu.
One use of the restroom proved that was not so.
Your cycle had come.
On your birthday. Just your luck.
Thankfully you had woken early enough that Mor was likely still sleeping, the sun's rays just barely peeking over the horizon.
You could take a bath. A nice, scalding bath to soothe the aches of your cycle. And you did just that, soaking in the water until the sun had risen.
Still, you felt dirty climbing out of the bath. Every cycle, you felt more and more disgusting with each vile look Nesta and Elain would throw at you.
Nesta and Elain... You would have to see them today.
Tears filled your eyes at the thought of dealing with them later.
At least you would still have your morning with Mor.
You finished dressing just before Mor arrived, tying your dressing gown as she knocked on your door.
"Good morning, Y/N," she said after you let her in, her arms filled with the usual fare. "Do you want a pain potion or anything, sweets?" Mor asked after she set the tray down on your bed.
"No, I'll manage fine," you said, still disappointed that everyone else can scent your cycle.
Mor nodded her head in understanding. "Well, if you change your mind, feel free to come to me for one. I know your cycles aren't quite like mine, but they're painful nonetheless. But for now, Y/N, I'd like to wish you a very happy birthday. Feyre says you're turning twenty?"
You bobbed your head in confirmation as the two of you took your seats on your bed. "Yes, we're just a few days under a year age difference." Mor poured out tea for the both of you, today it was your favorite lavender and chamomile blend. "Do you... Do you know what Feyre has planned for this evening?" You asked nervously.
If you knew what to expect, maybe it wouldn't be as bad.
"Well, there's the dinner, obviously, and I do believe that we all got you a gift- at least I did, and Elain made a delicious looking cake for you! I do think that's all, though, Feyre thought you wouldn't like a huge celebration right now."
"Feyre would be right... I'm nervous enough as it is..."
Mor smiled softly at you. "You know what will help with that?"
"What?"
"Doing our skincare! It'll get your mind off of tonight!"
You shook your head at her. "I should've guessed, Mor," you laughed, but followed her into the bathroom anyways.
And Mor was right, as she usually was.
The two of you dozed off on your bed while you had masks on, only waking up once Mor accidentally kicked you in her sleep.
The two of you were still giggly by the time she left your room, your spirits much higher thanks to the lovely blonde that had become your friend over the past week.
By the time dinner rolled around, you were cramping more than before, and feeling absolutely exhausted from keeping yourself awake all day.
You hadn't realized how tiring just being awake was, even with your mind traveling back to that little cottage for most of the day.
Still, you bathed once more, a quick one this time, and dressed in a modest, dark green dress.
Now the difficult part... Making it downstairs. In the daytime.
Your hand rested on the doorknob longer than you cared to admit, your body warring with your mind, knowing who was waiting downstairs.
You managed to get out of your room, very slowly making your way downstairs as dread filled your stomach.
Surely Feyre could get your sisters to behave for one night, right?
The dining room of the River House was packed when you finally entered, the entire Inner Circle being present along with Nuala and Cerridwen.
Good- two extra friendly faces could never hurt.
"Y/N!" Feyre exclaimed when she spotted you, and she quickly made her way over to you. Her hands clasped yours. "I'm so glad you came down, sissy," Feyre said, using the old nickname she had given you.
"Me too," you replied, only half meaning it.
"Well, dinner is just about ready if you want to take a seat. Mor and I saved a seat between us for you, if you'd like?" You nodded and let her lead you to your chair, which was next to an excitedly bouncing blonde.
"I can't wait to give you your presents, Y/N. I think that mine are the best!" She boasted.
Your nose crinkled as you smiled at her enthusiasm. "I'm sure everyone's presents are nice, Mor."
"Yes, but mine are the best. You'll see after dinner."
"I'm sure I will..." You said quietly, and it was then that you noticed the eyes on you.
All of the eyes on you.
Nesta was looking at you like she wanted to stab you, or perhaps burn you alive with her silver flames. Elain's look had less outright hatred, but hurt all the same.
Still, they said nothing.
Thankfully, Rhys's eyes looked more concerned than angry, as they had been the last time you had seen him.
You turned your eyes to your plate. White porcelain with delicate silver flowers painted onto the rim. Pretty.
"So, what all do you want?" Mor asked a few minutes later, drawing you back into the present.
You looked up and noticed that dinner had been served, all of your favorite dishes that Nuala and Cerridwen had made for you since you met them on the table.
"A little bit of everything...?" You said, unsure if that would be okay. No one stopped Mor from loading up your plate with a whole lot of everything, leaving you with a dauntingly full dish set in front of you.
There was no way you could eat all of that in one go, with the way you had been eating... Or rather, avoiding eating recently. The most consistent meals you had were your small breakfasts with Mor.
You resolved yourself to eat a small amount of each, and see how you feel then. After all, there was still Elain's best cake to have later.
The dinner was more pleasant than any you remembered, though you hardly spoke to anyone. Mor and Feyre seemed to have picked up on how anxious you were, both of them touching your arm or hand to draw you back to the moment when you stared at your plate too long.
But then it was time to retire to the living room, you seated on the couch across from the fireplace that you had avoided for so long now...
Gifts were given, more than you had anticipated.
Feyre, Elain, and Nesta had all gotten you cookbooks. Feyre's was of traditional Night Court recipes, your favorites marked with bookmarks. Elain had gotten you one on desserts of the Solar Courts. And Nesta had gotten you a book of soup recipes.
All of them would be thoughtful... If they had taught you to read.
Still, you smiled when you opened each one and said thank you, though your heart had sank lower at the reminder that they had forgotten your illiteracy, had forgotten that you barely knew your letters, if that.
Amren's present was next, a pretty set of pink opal jewelry. You smiled at the tiny fae, barely managing to meet her eyes. She was still... unsettling, though she had never done anything to you.
Then Rhys presented his, a book of human fables, explaining that Feyre had mentioned how much you had adored them as a child.
That much was true, but... It was the same problem as with the cookbooks. You thanked him but refused to meet his eyes.
Cassian was next, who had gotten you a box of sweets from the chocolate shop you had gone to a few times, all of them ones that you had ordered more than once. It was thoughtful enough, and you knew if he'd gotten a more personal gift, Nesta might have...
You didn't want to think about that.
Azriel was next after Mor told him that she would be presenting her presents last no matter what. He had gotten you a beautiful teapot and set of teacups, all enchanted to keep the tea at the perfect temperature for up to twelve hours. The bottom was a pale pink that faded into white at the top, with delicate irises painted on the sides. It was perfect.
Along with it, he presented you with a large box of different tea samples.
"Whichever ones you enjoy, let me know and I will buy you full sizes of them, alright?" Azriel asked after presenting you with it, and you nodded in agreement. "Thank you, Azriel."
There were at least ten teas you had never tried before, though these were all from a store that you had never been to.
To say you were excited for all of the new flavors would be an understatement.
Mor sighed after seeing his present. "Mine ties for first, I suppose... Here, Y/N," she said, handing over a large box to you.
You opened it, eyes widening at what was inside. It contained a beautiful pink bedding set, all of the fabric so soft to the touch you wanted to bury yourself in it the moment you felt it. There was a second blanket, one that was buttery soft and in a pale purple.
These would be a wonderful addition to your bedding.
"And... Here," Mor said as she gave you a large bag, this one filled to the brim with skincare and makeup products. "I wanted you to be able to keep up the routine, even while I'm gone. And I picked out some shades I thought would look pretty with your skin tone."
"Thank you, Mor." You leaned over to hug your friend who was seated next to you, so happy that she had thought of you so much.
"It's my pleasure, Y/N."
A few moments later, your presents were covered in shadows before disappearing, and you looked to Azriel.
"They're in your room, I thought it would be easier to have them taken up for you," was his answer. You nodded in acknowledgement.
"How about cake now?" Feyre said excitedly, clapping her hands together as she stood. "Elain, come help me?"
Elain started to follow Feyre, but as Feyre passed Cassian he held out a hand to stop her, nose tilted to the air.
"Feyre... Is...?" He took a few more deep sniffs. "Oh mother, are you pregnant?!" He asked, standing up and embracing her before she could confirm or deny.
"Oh, Feyre, congratulations!" Elain exclaimed, the next to hug her.
"Yes, yes, I'm pregnant," Feyre said shyly. "I wasn't planning to-"
"We have to celebrate!" Cassian announced, already pulling Feyre into the kitchen where everyone else followed.
You were excited for your sister, of course you were... But it stung, seeing the first time you had seen everyone in so long become a celebration of Feyre so quickly.
You said a quick congratulations to Feyre, though you weren't sure she heard you over the tenfold increased volume in the kitchen.
Then you made your way upstairs, back to your room, back to your bathtub.
At least you had a new blanket to keep you company, and new tea to have the next time you woke.
So you settled in, snuggling down into your now cozier makeshift bed. There was less fear in your heart, now that the obligation of seeing people was over. But the cramps were ripping through you, causing you to curl in tightly on yourself. Maybe you should have asked Mor for a potion after all...
Until you drifted off, you could hear them celebrating below, another reminder of how out of place you still feel.

part 7 — knee socks ៹ series m.list
a/n: longest chapter yet… 6.5k words. i think this may be my favorite chapter so far as we learn about these two and their flaws <3 also excuse the amount of F-bombs, i know there are a ton nearing the end of this part but they were well needed for that tension!
Twisting and turning in your mirror, you fiddled with the straps of the dress you'd slipped yourself into. Your brother told you it was a black tie event and to find something decently fitting the attire before heading out to pick up his date, letting you know he'd meet you there.
He also gave you Sukuna's number the night before so the two of you could discuss anything last-minute. You didn't know how you felt about that, but in the end you actually did need to text him.
12:43 pm — you: hey. what color tie you wearing? 12:45 pm — sukuna: uhhh probably red. why?
Leaving him on read, you ran a couple of errands before the evening rolled around, preparing yourself for the night out. It was actually quite perfect that he'd settled on that color since you had a dress stuffed away in the back of your closet that would fit the event.
It was a satin, crimson maxi dress with a slit running up your thigh and an open back. It hugged your body perfectly—a sexy look yet modest enough for such a formal.
You checked the time, seeing that Sukuna should be arriving any minute before reapplying your lipgloss and sliding your black gloves on. Utahime lended you her black faux fur shawl to accompany your dress and when you rested it against your shoulders, it tied the outfit together perfectly.
The doorbell ring sounded in your ears and you furrowed your brows., clasping your gold earrings on. Sukuna has a key to your apartment so why doesn't he just make himself known? He had no issue popping up a couple months back to find you naked.
Cringing, you willed the thought away and slipped your heels on to meet him at the door. Swinging it open, you were met with a wide set of shoulders and the scent of a peppery and caramel hinted cologne wafting in your nostrils, along with a darker tone of something else. God, he smells good.
Leaning against the doorframe on one arm, he had curled two fingers behind the collar of his stygian blazer and had it tossed behind his back. He was sporting a black dress shirt that hugged his frame so tight that you could see his muscles protruding right through, a downright mouth-watering display. His dark red tie matched the irises of his eyes, and the rich tones of your dress.
His free hand was shoved in his pocket, a golden watch twinkling upon his wrist. The black dress slacks he wore were crisp and fitted perfectly. Jesus, did the guy get his suit tailored for tonight?
You peered back up, satisfied with your ogling and meeting... Blown pupils, the garnet of his irises barely there.
His chest seemed to be heaving quite a bit and his mouth was parted, enough to see those sharp canines, a rabid look on his face as his eyes darted all along your figure and settling on your cleavage.
Smacking his cheek, you stepped out and past him, shutting the door with a smirk. "Nice try," you said, adjusting your heels and checking your phone. If you allowed the guy who thinks with his dick to stare any longer, he'd be late and Sukuna would in fact not be indebted to you, an opportunity you weren't willing to pass up. "Let's go. We're gonna be late."
What you didn't know was the way sukuna felt lightheaded from the overwhelming presence of you and he cursed himself for letting his carnivorous instincts take over in the moment.
You were a fucking beauty. He knew you were beautiful, always have. But seeing you dressed up in that scandalous dress like an actress from the fifties had him twitching. Because he knew it was for him. Kind of for him.
Flexing his hands, he shook his head and followed you out. Once you reached the steps outside, he hurried his stride to hold a hand out for you but you took one glance at his hand and scoffed, opting for the railing. The guy had a long way to go for you to even consider him an acquaintance.
Descending the steps carefully, your head spun on a swivel searching for his car and frowning when you couldn't place. "Where's your...?" you trailed off, peering up at him.
Stepping behind you, he placed his hands atop the shawl you had pulled over you and turned your shoulders, your eyes landing on...
"A motorcycle?" you asked, starstruck as you turned to look behind you.
"Yup." he stated, proud of himself and eyes glinting with mirth as he looked down at you before heading over to the side of his motorcycle and sliding his blazer back on. He looked particularly good tonight and you hated admitting it. You'd never seen him dress up so well but you'd be damned if you'd fuel his already overflowing ego.
Trudging over in your kitten heels, you stared at the seat as he climbed on comfortably and placed his hands over the handles, looking behind his shoulder at you.
Nodding, you took a couple of steps back. "Ya know, I think I'll just call an uber-."
He sighed, tossing his long leg over the dual saddle and walking to a clip holding two helmets. Grabbing the smaller one, he looked at it head-on before stepping over to you and sliding it on your head.
He leaned down until he was eye level with you and flipped the visor open, his deep red irises staring back at you. "Get on."
Something fluttered in your stomach, making you nod your head and obediently tuck your dress under your thighs. You cursed yourself for being so docile in the moment but something about his hoarse tone made your heart do jumping jacks.
No. It wasn't your heart. Your heart wasn't open to him. It was... Something else you totally didn't make up.
Sukuna smirked, watching you mutter to yourself in angered, hushed tones and slid his own helmet on and his biking gloves.
You expected him to make himself comfortable on the seat in front of you, but instead he swiftly placed his hands along your ribcage and lifted you like you weighed nothing, scooting you onto the front seat.
Turning back, you watched as he crossed his beefy leg over and you felt his chest brush up against your back, your pulse accelerating and biting your lip.
If not for the helmet, you'd feel his warm breath fanning the crown of your ear, the proximity making you dizzy. "You do this with all your dates?" you breathed out, adjusting your dress nervously.
You couldn't see his face, but you could hear his smirk when he said, "What dates?"
Now that the two of you were mounted, he maneuvered the kickstand up and started the bike. "Hold here if you're scared," he whispered in a teasing tone, his large hands pointing out small handles.
Your clammy fingers grasped them immediately, clearing your throat and bracing yourself. The feeling of his thighs caging in your form was all too noticeable, making you want to clench your thighs from the way your arousal was damn near pooling in your panties at the feel.
The sound of revving entered your ears, the thrum of the bike vibrating your body and electrifying every last nerve that was shot seconds before.
Glancing behind him, Sukuna kicked off and rolled the handles, pushing the two of you into the bustling, late night traffic.
The cold breeze of the night whipped at the bare areas of your skin, but soon, you didn't care. You felt good, really good.
Neon lights illuminating the city streets flickered in your peripherals as Sukuna darted between cars, his form bowing onto yours. On occasion, he'd slip a hand to your midsection to pull you closer to him to avoid you falling, and every single time would leave you lightheaded at the harmless gesture.
There was a heightened awareness in your surroundings. Though the helmet dulled it just a tad bit, the sheer adrenaline coursing through you had your heart beating a steady quickened rhythm in your ears.
The pure exhilaration of the ride had a hearty laugh leaving your lips, lifting your arms in the air on the freeway with a sounded squeal.
The pink haired man could feel his heart drop to his stomach, the corner of his lip tugging upwards as he adjusted the flounce of your dress to keep you decent. "Pipe down," he yelled over the rushing sound of air.
"I can't! This is fucking amazing!" you shrilled, your breaths quickening by the second. "Why didn't you take me for a ride sooner?" you innocently pushed, your tone nothing but jocular as you kept your eyes straight forward.
Sukuna opened his mouth to respond, but ultimately bit his lip. He honestly doesn't even know why he pulled all the strings and went the whole nine yards of fixing up his bike for one night. It'd been stuffed to the back of his storage room unit for a couple of years now and he's never humored fixing it up for a date.
What is he even thinking? This isn't a real date.
He could feel his mood turn sour by the second, thankfully saved by the emergence of the building of the awaited destination. It was a simple tall, glass skyscraper adorned with golden rims.
He pulled up near the entrance, jutting the kickstand out and tossing his keys to the valet as you slipped your helmet off and handed it to Sukuna. While you adjusted your hair, he set your helmet back down.
This time, you took the hand he offered you absentmindedly, tossing your leg over and moving to get off.
Unfortunately, your heel caught in the flow and you tripped forward, falling flat against Sukuna’s chest.
Your narrowed slits widened, gawking up at the man to see that he was still sporting his helmet, his expression shielded.
Thank god for it. Because you would've seen the way he was entirely entranced in your adorable expression, his dick twitching at the sight.
"S-sorry," you mumbled, dropping his hand and grounding yourself. You adjusted your dress and cursed yourself from making it look like you were some damsel in distress.
He parroted your motions, removing his helmet and shaking his coral tresses with his back turned to you, dusting his hands before peeling the gloves off. "Ready?" he asked over his shoulder and you punched down the sheer attraction this man radiated in you.
"Ready."
He settled by the side of you, holding a folded arm out to you and you rolled your eyes with a scoff, sliding your hand through the space and holding onto his bicep carefully. The man straightened immediately, masking the hitch of his breath with a simulated cough and began his stride.
Sukuna took into account your height difference, the man nearing seven feet tall and you... Significantly shorter. Meaning he had to walk at a steady pace for you to keep up. The both of you shuffled into an elevator alongside another couple too busy pecking and giggling to each other, causing you and Sukuna to exchange a look of worry before immediately turning away.
What if you didn't come off as romantic enough? What if they could read through it? Truthfully, it shouldn't matter too much, as a plus-one is optional in the first place. But a part of you wanted to follow-through with this to a T. You wanted Sukuna to land whatever position he wanted.
You brushed the thought off along with your growing nerves. Now was not the time to overthink. Cross that bridge when you get there. You exhaled a breath to steady yourself and unconsciously squeezed his arm closer to you for comfort while stepping out.
His eyes darted down to you, watching as your doe eyes widened to take in the scenery, the enchantment on your face clear as day. He scoffed and rolled his eyes. You were so easily entertained, can't hold back an expression for the life of you.
It was a large venue, he wouldn't diminish the fact. Traditional decorations with a sophisticated color palette, nothing he hasn't seen before in his line of work. But you looked like a bright eyed deer, drowning in your surroundings and admiring every little thing that captivated you.
"Look! Look! They have a chocolate fountain," you whispered up at him, though your eyes were glued to the brown cascading liquid.
Sukuna scoffed, running a hand through his neatly gelled hair. "You never try one?"
Your head spun to look at him, your mouth nearly falling slack. "You have?"
He let out a laugh, squinting his eyes down at you. "Course’ I have. Can't work in food and not be familiar with those sorts of things."
You cocked your head, humming in response. Now that you think about it, you actually had no idea what Sukuna did for a living. "You work in food?"
He began pacing with you glued to his hip, eyeing the crowd as he spoke. "Worked as a caterer for 2 years, then a bartender for a bit, and have been a sous chef for the past year."
You gasped, covering a clothed hand over your mouth as he led you towards the coat rack. "No way you work as a sous chef..." you trailed off in awe.
He grunted, dropping your arm for a moment to slide your faux fur off of your shoulder and hang it up. "Had me doin' grunt work for a while," he huffed, scooping your arm back up into his and keeping his gaze forward. "Now I've got a real position. Something good."
You didn't know you had it in you, but a very small part of you was proud of him. Proud that he was so passionate about something. Sukuna was a quiet guy, to hear him string together so many sentences about one thing was astounding.
Fixing your eyes before you, you had a difficult time holding back a smile, which didn't go unnoticed by him. "Wanna congratulate me or something?" he nudged your arm and you swatted him.
"Shut up. I'd rather tame a lion than do that," you bristled, shuddering your shoulders at the thought.
In a matter of seconds, you could feel every muscle in his bulging bicep contract, making you glimpse up at him. He had fallen pallid, his adam's apple bobbing as he stared forward.
You slowly followed his gaze to see a short man with winter-white hair to display his age. His skin was wrinkled like crumpled paper and he had a permanent scowl on his face, occasionally lifting his hand from his cane to thread his fingers through his wiry beard.
Tilting your head in wonder, you turned back to Sukuna and shook his arm. "What? ...You know him or something?"
"Fuck yeah I know 'em," he breathed out, his voicy rattling. "Not like he's the founder of Effervescent."
"Andddd I'm supposed to know what that is?" You queried.
Sukuna sighed, dragging a hand over his face. "That's the Chef Botan. Effervescent is the highest rated michelin star restaurant in all of fuckin' Japan. I could only fucking dream about dining there, much less working there," he grunted.
This time, you couldn't feign your smile. Ryomen Sukuna seems to have a heart about something. "Let's go talk to him."
His head whipped to you, pupils wide and lip near quivering. "What?" he barked back, his defensive already guarding him and putting up arms.
"He's here for a reason, Sukuna. Not to look ominous and aura-farm, he's here to offer students positions. Why else would he be here?"
Sukuna stared at you, parting his lips to come up with some excuse, but it failed him. You were right, the old man was in attendance for that exact reason. But that doesn't mean he would go up to him and strike up a conversation.
"Nah... I'm good. I don't have nothin' prepared and I-."
"Sukuna."
Your interruption halted him, your tone flat and solemn.
"We're going up to him and you're going to sweep him off his fuckin' feet."
It felt like the wind was knocked from his lungs hearing that from your lips. "Why're you... helping me?" He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that you were going out of your way to do even more than you'd agreed to.
And you couldn't figure it out either. Something inside of you stirred, at the pit of your stomach, but you brushed it off, glancing over your shoulder and back to Sukuna. "We gonna do this or what? Because he's headed over here."
Immediate panic washed over the brute of a man, his limbs going straight as logs and you could feel it. You also remembered your other promise to sukuna, that you would make this—whatever you had with Sukuna—believable.
"Kiss me," you breathed out, peering up at him with trepidation as you barely could believe what you'd just uttered.
His face paled. "What...?"
"Now. Kiss me, right now."
He stared at you in disbelief, his heart stopping for a few moments as he peered down to you, his lips connecting with yours. Firm, domineering, enchanting.
Though it was for a brief few seconds, you could feel the world fall away. All of your senses dulled except for places you felt him. His top lip slotting beneath yours, his breath enveloping your space and demanding dominance as he damn near sucked the air from your lungs.
He tasted like something smoky, and it was clear he must've eaten a mint before coming out. His tongue faintly brushed your lower lip and it took everything in you not to push up on the soles of your heels and kiss him deeper. A soft gasp, one only he bore witness to, left your lips and his chest thrummed with something heavy.
Pulling away, you met his closed eyes and pouted lips before his dark lashes fluttered open, looking at you with a softened expression you'd never seen before. His pupils were blown wide with awe and something you didn't want to name, admiring the flushed expression you'd adorned.
Swallowing every electryfying nerve in your body, you spun your head and waved a hand, donning the most genuine smile you could. "Mr. Botan! It's such a pleasure to finally meet you."
Sukuna managed to miss you whipping him over to the old guy and introducing yourself, saying how your boyfriend of five years never shut up about him. He was too entranced in the fact that it felt as if he'd been buried six feet underground for years and it was your kiss that brought him to life.
"Baby baby, tell me what you were telling me last week," you spat with a knowing look, tapping his shoulder with feigned playfulness.
"What?" he replied, tone nearly slurred as he turned to the man before him and suddenly feeling breathless. "Oh fuck," he blurted in surprise, realizing where he was, and realizing too late he'd sworn in front of his idol.
You and Mr. Botan exchanged a weary look as Sukuna gaped, gathering his mental bearings. "Ah. Nice to meet you both," the elder spoke, feeling the discomfort in the air and looking to retreat before Sukuna called out.
"Pan seared scallops and cauliflower," he inappropriately blurted, all too loud and the chef stopped in his footsteps, peering past his shoulders.
You pinched Sukuna’s bicep, praying that he wouldn't let this opportunity pass up with his awkward display.
"Sorry?"
"Pan seared scallops and cauliflower, your signature dish. No one can match the unequivocal balance of umami and sweetness like you can, sir. Except me. Uh, ...Sir. With all due respect. If you were to offer me a position at your restaurant, I'd prove to you that I can elevate it. Give me 45 minutes and a kitchen and I'll bring you a reinvented dish."
Sukuna continued on in depth about the rest of his five course menu, ranging from accents of his unique sauces, untraditional cooking methods, and palette cleansers. You couldn't help but watch in awe as the man who pracitically grunted and groaned about everything melted when he talked about the things he loved.
And thankfully, the old guy seemed as capitvated as boomers go. "You're a cocky bastard," he spoke out, clasping his shaky hands behind his back. "I might need more of that in my kitchen."
The pink-haired man nearly folded upon that comment. "Really?"
"Yes. You should thank your girlfriend who should teach you some manners before you come to me," he snarkly replied, catching your eye and you flushed at the comment, shielding your mouth with a chuckle.
"Anything, sir." Sukuna said, and you poked his side.
"Come over here so we can discuss more," he aimed at Sukuna and you took this as your moment to make yourself scarce. With a squeeze of his bicep, you bid him farewell and good luck, padding over to the bar and exhaling whilst adjusting the bodice of your dress.
You grabbed a champange glass from the display and leaned against the counter, eyeing the attendees. There were quite a few familiar faces you could make out as students from your campus, until a recognizable face made it's way towards you.
"Sayuri!" you called out, throwing your arms over your friends shoulders and pulling back to hold her by the biceps, admiring her attire. "Holy shit, you look amazing."
The brunette beamed, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as she took in your attire. "I could say the same about you, girl. Drop dead fucking gorgeous," she breathed out.
You smiled brightly back at her, handing her a glass of champagne which she took in appreciation, clinking hers against yours.
"You looking for an internship, too?" you asked, glancing at her as you took a swig. Sayuri was one of the few girls you'd had a chance to make friends with that were on the cheer team since the two of you shared a finance class freshman year and she carried you, which you were so thankful for.
She sighed, the worry coiled in her face. "Yeah. There's a law firm here offering a paid internship for students to assist judges in court rooms. No fucking way I'm letting the opportunity pass up."
"How's the hunt going?" you asked, keeping your eyes on Sukuna on the opposite side of the hall. Though Mr. Botan wasn't an extremely expressive person, he didn't seem to be pissed off, which was a great start.
"I dunno, looks like a great deal of other law majors had the same idea as me," she exhaled.
You turned to her and gave her a reassuring smile. "Sayuri. You've gotta be the most qualified person for the position. There's no doubt you aren't gonna sweep all these old geezers off their feet," you chuckled. Sayuri was a well-decorated student that managed to juggle her law classes with the varsity cheer team.
She nodded in thought and flashed you a grateful look. "Anyway, looks like you finally bagged him."
Your brows furrowed, passing a curious look to Sayuri. "Hm? What do you mean?"
"Oh, don't play dumb," she giggled, then matched your curious gaze and her face dropped. "Oh. You're serious."
"Sayuri. What the hell are you talking about?"
"Sukuna...?" she drawled out in question and you felt your stomach drop.
"Huh? We aren't- Me and sukuna aren't anything. I'm only here to make him look good," you explained, clairifying that there was no bubbling romance between the two of you.
She squinted her eyebrows and cocked her head. "That's not what Hana was saying..." she trailed off.
"Hana? Sayuri, if you don't explain whatever information you've got right now, I might explode."
She shook her head, an unserious laugh trickling from her lips that did nothing to soothe your trepidation. "Relax. It's just that... Hana was telling half the cheer squad that at the party two nights ago, Sukuna was mumbling your name when they were making out."
"What?" You yelled suddenly, and earned a few odd stares before slapping your hand over your mouth and squeaking out a small "What?" through parted fingers.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. "...You didn't know?"
"Fuck, no. I had no idea..." Ans then your jaw fell slack at realization. That's why she said 'go get your man' when she huffed past you that night? Dragging a hand down your face, you sighed.
There's no way that Sukuna was thinking about you when kissing Hana. It... It doesn't sound right. That makes literally no sense.
And why did he apparently lie when you asked him about it? Saying Hana was just drunk and confused?
But, if it were true, it would make some sense with Sukuna’s odd behavior as of late. The guy seemed like he was grieving a loss for the past couple of months, and if you were to align it with your interactions...
"Fuck." You sighed, staring straight at the floor. Sukuna had never been one for apologies. He was a tight-lipped bastard that did whatever he wanted and took whatever he pleased. It was unbelievably out of character for him to apologize to you in the first place, nonetheless his odd behavior around you that didn't align with his casual indifference.
You didn't want to utter the question lingering on your tongue, feeling unbelievably bitter and confused and angry. But what right did Sukuna have to look at you in such a manner, like the two of you mattered to each other? After everything he'd done to you?
Before Sayuri had the chance to reassure you, the sound of metal hitting glass resonated in your ears. You peered up, to see a man in a suit ready to commemorate the crowd with a speech.
Your chest tightened, flashes of injustice and rage flickering in your sight.
"I'll see you later, 'kay?" Sayuri said, patting your shoulder with a smile and disappearing into the crowd surrounding the platform at the end of the banquet hall.
Your fiery gaze flickered over to where Sukuna was, only to see Mr. Botan focusing on the speech. With narrowed eyes, you searched the room until you landed on his brutish figure stepping into the elevator.
You clicked your heels over, a scowl on your face as you stood before the shut doors of the elevator and watched as the neon red number increased, promptly stopping on floor twenty.
Calling it back, you waited until it returned to your level and stepped in. You jammed a finger into the number panel as the doors clicked shut, following up to floor twenty. It was the top floor, tapping your fingers absentmindedly against your folded arms in a show of your irritation.
Once the doors slid open, the cold air nipped at your bare skin and had your tresses pushed back. You braced yourself, holding your arms close to your form. You pushed onto the open, garden-styled roof, illuminated by the lights of the bustling city and the night sky alone.
Sukuna was perched over the railing, glancing over his shoulder with a cigarette hanging limply from his lips, an unusual smile for a man of his sort making it's way to his lips once he'd taken notice of you. He'd made his way out to the roof for some fresh air moments ago as his adrenaline was coursing through his excited body.
Making his way over to you, he puffed smoke from his lips and grinned, flicking the smoker to the ground and crushing it with his dress shoes. "Pea, fuck. You'll never fucking guess-."
"What the fuck is your problem?" You harshly interrupted, your eyes narrowed as your cheeks that were chilly immediately warmed from the anger radiating from you. The alcohol coursing through you, though it wasn't much, had you feeling top-heavy.
His smile dropped, reading your flare-up as another fuck up of his, though he was utterly bewildered as to why. "What are you talking about?"
"Hana." You blurted with a growl, taking a step closer to him as you felt like with the distance, you couldn't shove your frustration farther enough up into his face. "You fucking-. Why the fuck would you say my name?"
Sukuna felt a sudden lightness in his stomach, his mouth going desert dry from your confession as he realized what you were talking about. "...You heard?"
"That doesn't fucking matter!" You cursed, your volume reaching a crescendo as you threw your arms out. "Just what is your fucking problem with me? Huh?" You spat, taking a step closer to him and jabbing a finger into his chest. "One moment, you can't get your fucking hands off of me, the next you're satisfied that you met your fill," you gritted out in a fit of rage, eyes practically piercing holes through his head.
He looked down at your hand and felt that corroded hole in his chest bleed a little bit more before he packed it full of his rage. "You're one to fucking talk," he bit tersely, hushed, and pushing his head lower to intimidate you.
"Oh really? And how is this my fault?" You scoffed out incredulously, his audacity practically making steam puff from your ears.
"You just fucking kissed me!" He yelled out, baring his teeth as he peered down to your level. "Wanna explain that one to me, huh?" he queried mockingly, a nasty snarl dancing on his lips.
"T-that's..." you trailed off, your voice going quiet, the sudden realization that maybe you weren't entirely innocent either.
"Yeah. Fuck that," he clenched his teeth before peering behind you. "Fuck."
Tears trickled down your cheeks, your body hot and clammy, not taking note of the sounds behind you until it was too late.
The rattling sound of bone crunching under skin snapped your attention back, seeing sukuna shuffle backwards, his hand reaching his face.
"You alright?" A familiar, furious voice gritted out and your eyes widened into huge orbs.
Your brother was flexing his fist in pain, displeasure coloring his face and you immediately felt sick. "W-what're you doing here...?" You questioned, your voice thick with sorrow and confusion.
"What the fuck are you doing with him?" he shot back, before making his way towards Sukuna.
Sukuna was a fortress of a man, his height rivaled almost none and he was walking muscle. That didn't stop your brother, however, who was launching another fist at his jaw.
Your words caught in your throat as the taste of copper filled your mouth from biting your lip too hard.
Sukuna was taking each hit from your enraged brother, his hands limp at his sides as his eyes hung heavy. Running to your brother's side, you narrowly dodged a flying elbow as you attempted to pull him off of sukuna.
One nasty blow to his face had him stumbling backwards and your brother barreled his fist into his abdomen a few times before pummeling into his face again.
"Fucking- stop!" you yelled out, gripping his fabric and tearing him away.
Sukuna leaned weakly against the railing, one hand clutching his side from where your brother swiped him and breathing heavy. His face was battered with bruises and open cuts, blood dripping from the assault.
Your brother, however, was free from injury save for his battered knuckles, a pained snarl making it's way to his face as he flexed his fingers, satisfied with his work. "Stay the fuck away from her," he roared out, his body thrumming from the exertion.
Sukuna didn't respond, simply focused on his attempts to hold himself up. You glanced back at your brother who was already retreating towards the elevator, tossing you an angry glance. "Let's go,” he stated, voice heavy with finality.
You swallowed painfully, blinking the tears that blurred your vision and looked back at Sukuna. He gave you a weak smile, making him wince and nod, mouthing a small 'go.’
And you did. You wiped the mascara smeared across your tear stricken cheeks and stepped into the elevator with your brother, leaving sukuna on the rooftop alone.
–
“What the fuck were you thinking?”
“Hey, relax. She’s had one hell of a night.”
Your brother's date was sitting in the passenger seat, attempting to soothe your brother while he scolded you from the driver's seat. Her hand caressed his bicep as she tossed a worried glance back at you.
Apparently, she’d seen the two of you kiss and asked your brother if you two were an item—to which your brother searched for you around the banquet, spotting you, and followed you up the elevator to hear the conversation unfold.
“When did this even start?” He gritted out, donning a glower at the thought of his little sister and best friend being a thing, hands gripping the wheel. The mere sight made your chest tighten, stomach twisting in humiliation.
In truth, you hadn’t given much thought to how your brother would fit into all of this, as selfish as it sounds. You knew it, too–from day one, you’d downplayed his friendship with Sukuna and wiggled yourself inwards with barely a flicker of thought of how it could all come crumbling down, just like it had tonight.
“We don’t have to tell him.”
Clutching your shoulders to keep yourself from falling apart, you realized you’d forgotten Utahime’s shawl and cursed lowly, wiping your damp cheek and sniffling audibly. Everything was somehow going wrong.
Taking a glance at his rear view mirror, your brother watched as you slinked yourself in your seat, obviously not up to answering, and exhaled, running a hand through his hair as he prepared himself for his next question. “Did he pressure you?”
“What?!” You squealed out, shocked at his accusatory nature as if that wasn’t his best friend. How could he even question this? “N-no. He didn’t pressure me to do anything.”
He nodded to himself, relieved that Sukuna wasn’t making you do anything you didn't want to, slightly disappointed in himself for lowering his closest confidante to such a standard unlike him. Your brother was just so incredibly furious at the fact that the girl he’d decided to mess with this week was you–throwing away any amount of respect he had for Sukuna.
And although the age gap wasn’t anything crazy, simply two years, he didn’t like the idea of his younger sister having something with his best friend who he knew was a seasoned and experienced guy. Of course, you weren’t without your own encounters but Sukuna was simply a guy to be rivaled with.
Not to mention, his anger was so extended as he honestly felt at blame for this. Though it seems like the two of you have a messy preceding history, he was the one who'd suggested you be his date tonight.
“Stop coming up with excuses to hate him for this,” you muttered after a couple of stiflingly silent moments. His date practically melted into her seat, plastered back into the leather, eyes drawn to her window as if the entertainment in the car didn’t have her by the ear. “Sukuna is an asshole, but he’s not that much of an asshole.”
His gaze flickered back to you before focusing on the road. It pisses him off that there was something between the two of you that he hadn’t noticed. “How long?”
You wiped your nose with the back of your hand and scowled. “A couple of months. But we aren’t and have never been anything so stop stressing.”
“You’re my little sister. Why the fuck would I not worry about what goes on with you?”
You stilled, a familiar sense of guilt flooding you. How could you blame him? The two of you hid your interactions from him despite being two of the most important people in his life.
You had no excuse to be upset with him when you’d been so blatantly disrespectful of him just for a taste of the guy you’d secretly admired.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered out, tears stinging your eyes again.
“You should be. You should’ve-,” he sighed, catching himself being somewhat out of line for this. “I wish you would’ve told me.”
“Look what happened when you found out, though!”
For a moment, silence hung in the air, before his date snorted a chuckle, catching herself and readjusting in her seat, casting the two of you a wry look. “Sorry.”
You and your brother exchanged a glance in the mirror, a pained expression on his face and your eyes flickered to his hand, still covered in Sukuna's blood.
Your knee bobbed up and down as you fidgeted absentmindedly with your gold necklace, your mind reeling back to the rooftop. Sukuna was definitely upset with you, but there was something else there.
A certain... desperation, a frustration he couldn't hold back. A frustration you'd never bore witness to. It was so unlike the brute of an aloof man. Why was he so angry that you'd kissed him, immediately deflecting the blame right back at you.
You'd only kissed him as part of the deal, a grand finale to ensure you had done your part.
Right?
Fuck. Even questioning it was making you queasy. Had there possibly been another reason you wanted to kiss him? A kiss maybe you would never have the pleasure of knowing again.
The hum of the car silenced, your brother twisting the keys in his ignition before the vehicle stilled. "I'm gonna drop her off,” he said, motioning to his date. “Head upstairs, alright?"
Breaking you from your trance, you nodded, gathering the heels you'd kicked off in the backseat and waving your brother and his date goodnight.
The studio apartment was eerily quiet and you dragged your feet to your bathroom, flickering the blinding fluorescent lights on. Scrutinizing your look in the mirror, you peeled off your outfit, allowing them to drop to the floor and showering.
The rest of the night was completed in mechanical, empty movements. Your eyes were dull and bloodshot, slinking into pajamas and slipping under your sheets.
There was a part of you that wanted to pick up your phone and call him, to see if he'd made it back home safely, or even to the hospital with the damning case of his injuries, or maybe start up another argument that the two of you were far too tired for.
You didn't know a part of you just wanted to hear his voice.
It seems that every interaction you have with him is so unbelievably draining and toxic. You cursed yourself for being so drawn to him despite your dissonance. You clashed and clashed, yet lingered around one another despite it.
Even if you were to entertain the thought of Sukuna liking you, a thought you didn't even have the guts to utter, it was too fucking messy.
He was a selfish asshole, most of the time. He was sufferable when he wasn't teasing you carelessly, when he called you pea in that coaxing tone, when he was determined to pursue his passion, when he had the glint of mischief in his eyes that made your stomach flutter in anticipation, when his lips pressed into yours-
Fuck. What are you thinking?
You pulled your sheet over your head with a groan, the mental exhaustion of the day suddenly pressing into you.
Sleep. You had to sleep.

“I just heard the funniest joke from Inumaki,” Nobara says, welcoming herself into your apartment. You’re not surprised, and continue with your dessert preparations. Yuuji, to your left, spares her a wave, before going back to diligently preparing the vegetables.
Maki is the only one to respond by turning slightly in her seat to raise an eyebrow at Nobara when she walks up to the island, “Since when do you think Toge is funny?”
“Not usually,” Nobara admits, taking the neighboring open seat. She crosses her arms atop the counter, and squints at you, “But he surprised me this time.”
Your eyes fidget to Maki, who seems equally confused by Nobara’s unnerving stare, then to Yuuji, who appears none the wiser, because he happily chirps, “Well, I wanna hear it! Tell us, Kugisaki!”
“He said that it was soooo kind of you to share your anniversary date with Yuuta and have us all over for dinner,” Nobara drawls, “Then I got confused, of course—but then I thought, ‘Maybe they’re secretly together and I just didn’t know. Wouldn’t be a huge surprise.’”
You flinch at that, “What do you mean that wouldn’t be a huge sur—”
“This is the funniest part, though,” Nobara squints, “He said that you’re actually married, and he meant that today is your wedding anniversary. He was pretty convincing, though. He’s very committed to the bit—even challenged me to ask you at dinner, but I figured I’d straighten it out now,” she drawls, reaching over to steal a cucumber slice from Yuuji’s station, “You’re not actually married to Yuuta, right?”
You pause, for too long. Maki’s disbelief shifts from Nobara to you, morphing into a threatening glare that makes you chuckle nervously. Yuuji keeps turning his head between you and Nobara, waiting for one of you to crack.
It’s not her. “Okay… define married,” you mumble.
Nobara all but jumps across the island, standing up and slamming her palms on the counter top. “What do you mean ‘define married’—there’s only one definition!” Yuuji frantically sweeps his preciously sliced vegetables out of her range. “You’re either married to Okkotsu or you’re not, which is it?”
You pause again. Too long this time.
“You’re fucking kidding me,” Maki says, “It’s true? Toge says that shit all the time, how he can ‘still hear wedding bells’ when you two are around. Oh, I’m going to be sick.”
“Wait, you’re married?” Yuuji quips, “Since when? You should have told me, I would have gotten you a present!”
“Okay, okay—enough!” you yell, taking a step back, “It’s… true, but it’s not what you think. Yuuta and I are legally married, but we’re not together together.”
Nobara reaches to flick you on the forehead, “What the hell does that mean?”
“It means, we’re married on paper only,” you explain, strategically placing your knife in the sink, far out of Maki and Nobara’s reach.
“Say more words,” Maki demands, “Now.”
You sigh. Even Yuuji has paused his preparations, blinking at you with those big, wide eyes, and you know for sure there’s no way out of this now.
“It happened four years ago. I—”
Despite being the one who asked you to say more, Maki is the first to cut you off, incredulous, “Four years? You’ve been married to that beanstalk for four years and neither one of you twigs thought to mention it?”
“Maki, let her finish,” Yuuji pitches in for you, reaching a comforting hand out to your shoulder, “Maybe she was dying and needed Okkotsu-senpai to sign her insurance papers so the government didn’t sweep her away! I saw that in a K-Drama once,” he smiles proudly. Nobara pinches her face in disgust, immediately refuting and calling Yuuji an idiot for believing everything he sees on TV.
“Honestly, that’s not too far off. I’m not dying—and neither is Yuuta,” you hastily correct the worried faces peering at you, “But he was sick as a kid, and long story short is something got fucked up with his insurance when his parents died. It wasn’t a big deal, at first, but it spiraled into a bunch of issues, the biggest being the threat of taking his parents’ house away from him.”
Nobara pulls back, crossing her arms. “Why didn’t Gojo just do something then? That idiot has more than enough money to spare for some petty hospital bill, even with twenty years of interest.”
“He did,” you assure her, “But then the house became its own problem. His parents didn’t leave the deed in his name, and the community board tried to say that Yuuta had no assets and wasn’t a favored candidate for their neighborhood, even if he was their son.”
“That’s bullshit,” Maki interjects.
“Yeah, totally not fair,” Yuuji pouts, “That’s his dead parents’ house and they wanted him to prove himself?”
“Pretty much,” you sigh, “Basically marriage is something that helped prove his eligibility… plus some doctored philanthropic donations on Gojo’s end, and letters of recommendation from Shoko and her co-workers.”
Nobara tuts her bottom lip out. “I don’t know, I’m not buying it.”
“No, it makes sense. I’m sure by now all his parents’ neighbors are a bunch of uptight, old heads who didn’t want some kid throwing parties nearby,” Maki argues, “But once they hear he’s a young, married, nurse with a side hustle in philanthropy, I’m sure those geezers welcomed him with open arms. Sounds like some shit my family would do, too.”
Nobara hums, factoring in Maki’s evaluation. “Okay fine. Yuuta marries you, he gets his parents’ house back and probably commits insurance fraud too,” she settles, “But what about you?—You said this was mutually beneficial, so what did you get out of it?”
You probably should talk to Yuuta about revealing all the details of your marriage to your friends, but you knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. Yuuta’s parents’ death and the issues that came along with it weren’t a secret at the time, but your problems are something you kept private. It’s a miracle you’ve gone this long under the radar, and you know Nobara isn’t going anywhere with unanswered questions.
“Permanent residency status,” you tell her, “Yuuta’s a citizen, so in marrying him, all my problems about finding a job in six weeks after graduation disappeared.”
“But… you got a job?” Yuuji questions, head tilted.
“Yeah, eventually, but I didn’t know I would, and it was either take that chance, or be forced to go back home, and my time was running out,” you reveal, twiddling your thumbs together, “Look, I would have said something at the time, but everyone had their own shit to deal with after graduation. I would have asked any one of you to marry me, but I knew Yuuta was the only one with a reason to say yes.”
The kitchen falls quiet as the news sits with your friends. Nobara and Maki’s stern disbelief slowly morphs into empathy, and Yuuji’s bright eyes grow steely with concentration as he pieces your story together.
Then he springs up, “Wait, I totally would have married you, senpai!”
You laugh, a lightness easing its way back into the room. “Thanks, Yuuji,” you lean to give him a kiss on the cheek, but you’re met with Nobara’s outstretched palm instead.
“Nuh-uh. Just because I think this marriage is insane doesn’t mean that I condone adultery.”
“It’s not adultery. I told you, Yuuta and I are married on paper only—he’s free to date and kiss whomever he pleases, and so am I,” You roll your eyes, pushing her hand away and giving Yuuji a kiss anyway, which he happily accepts, sticking his tongue out in mockery at Nobara.
Maki scoffs, “Are we sure that Yuuta knows that?”
“Of course he knows that.”
“So then why hasn’t he dated anyone?” Maki presses, eyes lowering into a teasing glare.
“I don’t know,” you shrug, “Who Yuuta does or doesn’t date isn’t really my business.”
Nobara pulls at her hair, “Yes it is. You’re his wife.”
“His contractual wife,” you correct.
“Contractual?”
“Wait—have Yuuta and Toge not totally kissed on several drunk, or am I the only one who saw that?” Yuuji interjects.
“No, that was you and Fushiguro,” Nobara says, “And nobody cares about you two right now.”
You put a hand on Yuuji’s shoulder, “I care about you, Yuuji. Please, tell us about your drunk escapades with our dear Megumi.”
“Save it, Itadori,” Maki cuts in, crushing Yuuji’s bright demeanor, “You and Yuuta are way more pathetic. Keep talking.”
“Since when do you even like to gossip?”
“Since she met me,” Nobara gleams, proudly, “Now, keep going.”
You give Yuuji an apologetic glance before continuing, “I just mean that by the end of this year, Yuuta and I can get amicably divorced without raising any suspicion. Our marriage can’t be contested as a sham, I’ll be eligible for citizenship and housing on my own, and all will be well.”
It’s quiet again, for a moment. You bite your lip in anticipation. Ultimately, you knew that none of your friends would judge you and Yuuta for what you did, but it wasn’t exactly normal to marry your friends for legal benefits, and then hide your marital status from almost everyone you knew. Still, this conversation was going about as well as it could, until Maki starts laughing.
Her laughter starts off quiet, then grows gradually, until it becomes concerning. You don’t think you’ve ever seen Maki actually laugh before—a few amused grunts, and occasional drunk giggles, yes, but full-on, blown laughter is a first. It’s scary, and as you glance at Nobara and Yuuji, you’re clearly not the only one worried.
“You actually believe that he doesn’t feel anything for you—that’s rich,” she says through laughter, clutching her stomach, “God help you if you think you can just divorce him. You two are so fucked, you deserve each other.”
“Wait, speaking of rich, did you sign a prenup? Isn’t Yuuta totally loaded now that he’s a nurse and related to Gojo—I also don’t think that you’ll be able to divorce him that easily, but if you kill him, you could be an instant millionaire,” Nobara reasons.
“That’s so shallow!” Yuuji exclaims, “Also, I’m a nurse, and I wouldn’t say I’m loaded.”
“That’s because you’re not cute like Yuuta,” Nobara mocks, “If you were, then you’d make the big bucks.”
“I’m cute!” Yuuji cries, turning to you, “I’m cute, right?”
You reach to pat his head, “Yes, Yuuji, you’re very cute. And perfectly well off enough. Yuuta works inhumane hours for his money, don’t be like him.”
“Itadori, you make, like, quadruple what the average person makes,” Maki reminds him, “You just spend it all just as quickly.”
Nobara scoffs, “Which he can afford to do because he’s a nepotism baby.”
“You just said I was poor and ugly, and now I’m a nepotism baby? Pick a story, Kugisaki!”
“I don’t have to pick shit. Nanami-san sponsors your entire life, and enables your bad spending habits,” she huffs, “Yuuta’s a nepotism nurse, too. In fact, you both make me sick.”
“Okay, then by that logic Fushiguro is also a nepotism baby!”
“Well, duh. He’s, like, the poster child for nepotism babies all around the world.”
You drown out Nobara and Yuuji’s argument, mulling over Maki’s words instead. Did she mean to imply that Yuuta would make your divorce difficult on purpose?—you don’t see why; Yuuta doesn’t have a malicious bone in his body, and it wouldn’t serve him any purpose. You didn’t sign a prenup, but you would never argue ownership over any of his assets, and you know that Yuuta knows that; he’d already given you so much, you would never try to take anything from him.
In fact, getting divorced would only open more doors for him. You don’t know if Yuuta hasn’t dated in the past four years out of some lingering loyalty to your marriage, but if that was the case, then you don’t want to stand in his way for any longer than necessary, and you especially don’t want him to grow to resent you for it. He would no longer be unnecessarily bound to you; he’d be free, legally, to carry on with his life—you would be the only one indebted to him for his boundless kindness.
Truthfully, you hadn’t thought much of your divorce throughout your marriage. You knew that after five years, you could get divorced without consequence, but you hadn’t pictured how that would go. The thought of it somehow messing with your relationship to Yuuta, and your mutual friendships makes your head hurt. Maybe you should have married Yuuji instead.
“Are you kidding, Yuuta would have mauled him,” Nobara chuckles, “Plus he would have lost his childhood home.” You blink. Guess you said that last part out loud.
Her words spark more bickering between her and Itadori, and this time you turn to Maki. It was evident that she was just as much in the dark as anybody else about your secret marriage, but, still, it seemed like she knew something that you didn’t.
“Maki, does... you said I think that Yuuta doesn’t feel anything—then what does he feel?”
Maki blinks, then shakes her head, “You clearly don’t know who you married. That’s for you and your husband to work out.” She continues, this time that same wicked laughter is back, “Just know that whatever your plan for divorce was, it’s not going to be that easy. Yuuta is stupid, clearly, but he’s not that dumb. At least, I hope not.”
You pout, shoulders slumping. That was about the most cryptic and least comforting response a person could give, but you shouldn’t have expected more from Maki. Luckily, Yuuji moves to give your shoulders a comforting rub, forgoing Nobara’s exclamations of him being a homewrecking harlot.
At this point, you can’t tell if their arguing or your overthinking is causing your headache. Maybe you should cancel this group dinner all together; there’s no way you and Yuuta won’t be the topic of conversation all night, and you’re not exactly looking forward to pairing Maki’s mystic messages with Toge’s public humiliation, unless you start consuming liquor now.
Deciding that’s the best plan of action, you turn to your cupboards to reach for a bottle of wine, pawning off popping the cork to Maki when your phone buzzes, catching your attention.
It’s a text from Yuuta, similar to one you’ve received on this day every day, for the past four years, with something a little extra tacked on this year.
from: yuuta 🌟 — happy anniversary (and i’m not just saying that because the feds are watching) (^∇^) — cheers to us, and many more! 🖤

‘HeY! Tommy—shh!—no sorry not you I’m just—fuck, stop that!”
Burying the receiving end of the phone into his shirt, Joel puts his finger to his lips to shush you before shoving your clawed hand away. He puts the speaker back on his ear. “Sorry we—“
A strong growl rumbles below Joel.
“You got a dog or something?” Tommy chuckles on the other end.
“Uhhh--“ Joel looks down at you, now on all fours and nudging his clothed sack with your pointed snout. “StoP! Shit--“ he tries to push your nose away but you keep coming back, inhaling deeply through your blackened sniffer with heightened senses. You let out a low howl from your throat of approval, pawing at his jeans now to get them off. “Y-yeah— I mean no! We’re watching a friend’s dog—“
“You gonna keep it?”
“Wh-no. She’s being a —very-bad-dog!” He enunciates at you. “I’m gonna tell them she can’t play here anymore when she’s like this.”
You scoff, knowing deep inside your wolf brain he’s full of empty threats.
If you really wanted to annoy him, you’d crush his phone under your foot, pin him down, and force you needs onto him. you'd actaully done that before, only to wake up with little memory next to a Joel who looked like he got hit by truck.
You were actually being a VERY good girl tonight given the circumstances.
He pushes you away with finality, walking away towards the bedroom.
You should try to behave, but its so difficult once this shape takes form. It's like asking a kid on halloween to wait to open candy until he's out of his costume and washed up for bed. you couldn't communicate with him, your wolf-like vocal cards unable to form words. But your gestures lead to pretty obvious intentions, and Joel was not getting it one bit.
Luckily, he isn’t prepared when you pounce on his back, making him grunt an “oof!” And falling flat on the bed.
“Joel?” Tommy asks, concern laced in his voice from the other end of the call.
“Shit—Yeah I’m—alright…stubbed my toe.”
You flip him around like he’s nothing. In your current state, he actually does weigh nothing to you. He tries not to yell as you start literally tearing his jeans off, the shredded denim falling by your side.
He coughs, trying to play it cool as if some monster didn't just rip all his clothes off with a single swipe. “I’m gonna have to—“ your sharp teeth pull down his boxers, revealing his rapidly hardening cock. A devilish grin spreads across your elongated mouth, salvia pooling in drops and falling to his stomach.
“Don't!—F-FUck!” He yelps as you wrap your sticky, long tongue around his member, a full 360 covering from base back up to the tip. Your warm breath is fanning his mushroom tip as your tongue jerks him off, granting you a hum of approval. Joel’s eyes go a little crossed, leaning back into the pillow and feeling himself float. “Tommy—No I’m not getting off right now—“ he furls his brows, unable to put his eyes on you and instead, pushes his palm along your furry forehead, knees digging into the matress trying to get away from your grip.
You growl again at his profuse denial of you.
Shredding his shirt off as well, your leathered paws glide roughly over his chest and soft stomach. You lick over his nipples, down to his naval and soaking his happy trail with slobbery kisses before returning to suckle his cock easily in your mouth.
In human form, Joel’s girth is impossible to take in one go, leaving you often choking and having to jack the rest of his member with your other two hands. But when you’re in wolf form, with your now larger frame and more importantly, longer chops, he fits just perfectly without any trouble. You had gotten pretty good at avoiding scraping with your larger teeth, instead now pressing your twitching nose deep into his pelvis while his cock breaches your throat heavenly. He closes his eyes, arched up in bliss and forgetting his brother on the phone.
“Tommy—I’m—not feeling great… this dog…I gotta—I’m—“
You flips him over again to his face, your tongue slitting between his ass cheeks and gliding over his taint. Joel lets out a shocked whine when you prod at his hole, glazing over it until slick from your saliva coats his entrance enough to slip the very tip inside.
“‘Mgonnahavetocallyouback—“ Joel smashes the end call button with stumbled fingers.
“You’re not putting anything in my ass tonight,” he groans as you lap at his entrance.
You snap at him angrily, nudging his balls with your nose again. He feels your teeth nip along them as gently but hungrily as possible, hoping he’ll finally take the hint.
“Do you want me to fill you or not?” He asks, turning over and tossing his phone.
Your tail wags excitedly, fast panting jiggling your belly.
You lean back, spread your legs, as two clawed fingers spread your hairy folds. He can see it glistening with hormonal juices even with the slick fur around it. You lazily roll your paw in circled motions, a general amount of your wolf pussy juices dribbling down below and fillinig the room. Tongue lolled to the side with a heavy look in your eyes, your quick breaths dry you out, licking over your chops over and over again as Joel positions himself between your legs, his leaking cock in one hand.
“Ugh—wait—“
He reaches behind him to fish a few viagra’s, knowing even he will tire after a few round of half dozen, but you’ll be needing his seed pounded deep into your womb for at least 15 times tonight.
He mounts you like a dog, one foot propped up on the bed while the other steadies on his knee. “You gonna be a good pup tonight?”
You shake your head no teasingly, spreading yourself wider for him.
“No? How else am I gonna fill ya with a litter?”
You whine out dramatically, pleading with him. He keeps slapping his dick along your slit, giving himself a good warm pussy soaking without actually doing you any favors. “Not sure you’re worth breeding with pups since you’ve been so—“
Your jaws snap shut with a vibrating growl. One whole paw wraps around Joel’s waist as you hoist him towards you, his dick finally penetrating your walls. You let out a delicious howl, using him to fuck yourself.
“HEY I’m not—shit baby—not a fuckin—toy!” It’s so easy for him to get lost in your cunt, internally much warmer and almost sucking him back in for more. You’re probably meant to take another werewolf’s cock, a werewolf’s knot, something proportionate, but you always go feral for Joel. And Joel’s a blessed guy down there. You enjoy the fact that you can be stretched wide in human form, but needing no preamble in wolf form.
And wolf or not, Joel Miller has breeder balls. The scent alone of his seed swimming inside them sends you into early heat each time, leading to nights like this where you’re biting at his sack then pinning him down until he dumps load after sticky load into your womb.
He doesn’t have a knot, but having human cock in werewolf pussy has its perks. Like how he can push deep inside, his balls snugly pressed against your entrance until they slip inside too. The two of you groan lowly as he ruts himself inside you. Your walls practically swallow his cock and balls all in one, refusing to let him pop them back out. Warm and wet, you can feel all of his twitching inside you, ready to give you those pups you’d been begging him for. Whether he understood that or not from you, it didn’t matter.
Joel grips your fur tight as he splatters his cum inside you. Maybe this time, it’s deep enough that it’ll take.
Even so, you’ve got the rest of the night to find out.
